I have a 24 C8 and the first 2000 km the transmission was shuddering when changing gears between 1500 -2000 revs, I made appointment at dealer which was 2 weeks out and it stopped the shuddering the day I took it in. The other issue is when give some throttle where the Revs get up to 5000 and then lift the revs will stay up for what seems like an eternity until I manually put it in a higher gear. The dealer says this is normal but my C7and Camaro's never stayed up. I know it is a different transmission but does anybody experience this? It is very annoying and sounds like I don't know how to change gears when gets up to 5-5500 revs.
It could to a point depend on whether you are in manual or automatic as well as the selected drive mode. Found this for what it’s worth. And welcome to CCF !
Manual shifting behavior in the C8 Corvette—and similar high-performance cars with dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs)—varies depending on the drive mode, but the core manual control remains largely in the driver’s hands when using paddle shifters or manual mode. Here’s how it generally works:
• Manual Shifting in Tour/Comfort Mode:
• Even in manual mode, the car may intervene more readily to protect the engine or transmission, such as automatically downshifting if RPMs drop too low or upshifting if you approach the rev limiter.
• Shifts may be smoother and less aggressive.
• Manual Shifting in Sport Mode:
• The car allows you to hold gears longer and generally gives you more control before intervening.
• Throttle response is sharper, and downshifts are quicker.
• The car may still upshift at the rev limiter but is less likely to override your manual selection unless necessary for protection.
• Manual Shifting in Track Mode:
• Maximum control is given to the driver—gears are held as long as you choose, even up to the rev limiter.
• The car is less likely to intervene with automatic upshifts or downshifts (though it will still prevent engine over-rev or lugging).
• Shifts are fastest and most aggressive.
Key Points:
• Drive modes affect throttle and shift aggressiveness, but manual mode is still mostly manual.
• More aggressive modes (Sport, Track) let you hold gears longer and give you greater control before the car intervenes.
• Even in manual mode, most modern transmissions will override to protect the engine if you forget a shift or rev too high.
In summary, while manual shifting is largely controlled by the driver, the drive mode influences how much the car intervenes and how aggressively the transmission responds to your inputs.
