Performance exhaust

I’m a little confused by this thread. I thought exhaust baffles were on all C8’s regardless of exhaust being performance or non-performance? I’m also considering upgrading my 23’ 2LT to performance exhaust, I would potentially lose control of the baffles?

Not all C8 Corvettes come with active exhaust as a standard feature. The C8 offers two factory exhaust options: a base exhaust and a “Variable Mode” or active exhaust system that allows the driver to switch between quieter and louder exhaust notes depending on the drive mode (touring, sport, track, etc.). The active exhaust uses valves to open or close, enhancing the sound and performance.
The active exhaust system is typically part of the optional Performance Exhaust package or the Z51 package. If your C8 does not have these options, it may only have the standard exhaust without active valves.
Aftermarket dual-mode exhaust systems with active valves are also available for all C8 Stingrays, including those without the factory performance exhaust option. These systems allow independent control of exhaust valve positions for loud or quiet modes, often with remote control.

From what I know, you have to get that performance exhaust option on non Z51 car or the Z51 that comes with this and some other goodies.

Thanks all. I have a non-Z51 LT2 no perf exhaust and it does have the active exhaust (changes with driver mode selection).

No, it doesn't unless you have NPP which can be ordered separately.

From the manual: Engine Sound: (some choices, if equipped) Stealth, Tour, Sport, Track
Only the NPP has Engine sound choices.
I have NPP so I can't tell you if Non NPP cars have the setting, but it still does nothing unless it's referencing the phony engine sound through the speakers.

The C8 exhaust systems
Both exhaust systems have valves before the muffler to restrict exhaust flow in V4 mode.
The NPP exhaust has valves after the muffler. When open the exhaust goes right out to the outside tips.
When the valves are closed it forces the exhaust out small holes in the pipe just before the valves and into the chamber. The inside tips have pipes in the chamber. The pressure in the chamber forces exhaust gas into holes and out through the inner tips for a quieter sound.

Seems then that your car has active exhaust and you just weren’t aware of it. Go to C8 tracker.com and enter your vin and pull up the build sheet/window sticker and see what it shipped with.
To tell if your C8 Corvette has active exhaust (also known as the Variable Mode exhaust or NPP exhaust), you can:
• Look under the car near the exhaust tips for electric motors and visible valves inside the outside tips of the exhaust pipes. These valves control the exhaust flow electronically.
• Check the exhaust settings in the car’s driver mode menu. If you can select modes like Track, Sport, or Z mode that change the exhaust sound from quiet to loud, your car has active exhaust.
• C8s with the optional performance exhaust package have additional valves that open up exhaust flow for extra power and louder sound.
• When active, the exhaust note changes depending on the mode: quieter in Touring mode and louder in Track or Sport modes.

Wow when I go into sport mode the exhaust does lower in sound and bit deeper but I'm still in the break-in. I've never been in manual I don't know what it would really sound like if I really Let it Go the thing is somebody said you could adjust the exhausting settings not sure what that means

When you are in Sport, Track or Z mode ( custom setting by you), the valves will open up depending on throttle input and rpm 1700+ - rpm. Most od the exhaust will bypass the muffler and give you that rumble. lol..

Here's a cutout view. Notice the small holes where the exhaust gas is forced out when the valves are closed and into the inner exhaust tips.
