Just asking if what is in that video would apply to our Corvettes .....I be happy I have me a 2024..... kinda sorry I sold my 64 Bonneville.![]()
What I got from it was it's happening more and more with just about every manufacturer. I recall the stink raised when BMW tried to charge a subscription fee to activate the heated seats that were already in the vehicle you just bought from them . They backed off but this is going to be the situation with new vehicles going forward I'm sure. Doesn't really affect 2024's so much but there is the issue of what happens 10 or 15 years down the road when manufacturers stop software support . Or before that even. I suspect the private sector will step up in some fashion but of course that remains to be seen. And will manufacturers want to give access to their proprietary info ? Hard to predict when that will occur. Kind of gives me a bit of sellers remorse letting my 64' go .Just asking if what is in that video would apply to our Corvettes .....

I'll be watching you
Every move you make
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Big Brother is watching and its a bit scary. Also makes one realize why we need massive data farms. I can't imagine how much info would need to be collected and stored if every vehicle was monitored for all functions all the time.
Sorry , No comprende but google translates it asChe figata ! Questo gruppo spacca.

Ya know its so sad what this world has become .....In short yes, in long - gradually. Don't expect system shock - it will be rolled out over the next few years.
We've been conditioned pay subscriptions already OnStar, music services, maps, apps etc. over decades.
BMW just said the quiet part out loud and their example was too soon but they've not given up hope, they charge for traffic, remote start, driver assistance packages in select regions from what I recall.

BMW Commits to Subscriptions Even After Heated Seat Debacle
You may not have to pay a monthly fee to keep your butt warm, but BMW isn't backing down from subscription features.www.thedrive.com
Features as a service is coming. I can't see GM passing up on the opportunity.
And because your feature needs to call home it implies obsolescence at some point when they shut it down.
Ya know its so sad what this world has become .....
The days of honest people selling honest products .... that you pay for once ... pay for quality .... and enjoy it for decades ... are a distant memory
Todays greed could care less about you .... unless its about phishing your private information ...... todays greed has little interest in a one and done sale ...
What good is that to them ?.... they want you coming back each and every month .... which brings to mind an unrelated ( sort of ) thought that just crossed my mind
Great example of this is condominiums .... someone had the brain storm that people renting apartments was a bad idea for the rich ....
So developers decided .... Hey lets still build apartment buildings ... but why dont we sell the masses single units for like a million dollars each , parking slabs that are the size of a sheet of plywood for say a hundred grand... and still charge them rent ( in the form of maintenance fees ) that will give them the illusion of ownership and if something goes wrong with the building we can charge each unit " owner " their share of the cost to repair it .... Condos ... one of the biggest scams going .... but not the only one
Other than good looks .... I wonder what gremlins will be living in the C9 Corvette that we may or may not know about ?
