good to know as I was going to buy the new bc link for sledding.. I'll watch this conversation and decide then..backcountry is only 2 watts of power,
what is the range per watt 1 km or 1 mile not sure so not very far,
I know the ratings are 64kms but they will only go 500 yards if there are trees
they will only go a mile in the line of sight
that is the problem you need 5 watts for cars, nothing less works very well at all
that is why real world testing was done last weekend and many others should chime in Jeff
It took only about 3 to 4 transmissions to determine I should just shut the Uniden off.
See, that is why you couldn't hear my 5.0 quiet channel announcements... you turned yours off.Ya, the 2 way are good for 4-7 cars in a row... not anymore that is why I mentioned the idea a channel for 5-6 cars then a second channel for 5-6 more if that is all people had. one 5 back has both channels on and relays the msg. I will ask this fella (the owner of the business here) if he can refer a contact for you ...whos the supplier? maybe an outlet in Manitoba... I know so far there is 20 cars so far going down to Bowing Green from manitoba corvette club. im on fence as need to get a second more reliable ride (vette,,61has no roof no air and no heat) have a couple of my udder cars up for sale now.

Spence’s contact may be able to sell a bulk order and program them all the sameI will ask this fella (the owner of the business here) if he can refer a contact for you ...
Actually Don is a rather decent fella. He may not be joining in this as we have discussed a BusinessSpence’s contact may be able to sell a bulk order and program them all the same
Alberta Manitoba and everywhere on between will then have the same frequency
just a thought, he could provide frequencies specs but a sale might be nice,
I am under the impression he is a forum member here but somewhat shy to enter into the discussion
My thoughts not trying to interfere. Jeff
Ok just received Don's reply …whos the supplier? maybe an outlet in Manitoba... Sadly it will need to be the reverse (according to the Motorola Supplier) as the bc link would need to be able to be set to a particular channel for listening only and then to a particular privacy code to be able to talk & listen because the commercial/business units are programmed. I did this with my Unidens which worked real well within a short range (and within vision too) than what the Motorola was able to do (long range and out of sight). The Motorolas are high power 5w and work well between themselves. The lower wattage units will be only as good as they are and I think the bc link might transmit at only 1watt.id be interested in a couple then as long as they r compatible with the bc link ones .. ill be with the manitoba vette guys this weekend at a show.. i have never asked about this. but i do know at the quad c stuff they r using talkies . i had a uniden one at one event . just checking other sites seems the more u buy the lesss expensive they r ..

I've been told the Motorolas will not have a quantity discount … just a discount per unit "club price" whether one buys 1 or many … I can't find these Motorola Models for sale online but I can find the Vertex Standard version (might be a poor search engine I'm using). Our price in one of my messages above includes having the units programmed (unsure of Alberta GST5% being on top of that though).
