Non run flats for Grand Sport

I want to swap out my Michelin Pilot Super Sport run flats for non run flats. Michelin does not sell 335/25R20 tires in Canada only ZR run flats. I want to maintain the high performance in both appearance and performance. Only tire I can find that fits is Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 but it has a crummy looking tread. Anybody had any luck with other brands and tell me how they work. My car is a 2017 Grand Sport. Thanx!

hey ! .... you may find this vid interesting as it discusses the Continental tires you are talking about in your post ... they are on a C8
but its worth a look .....

The pic in your post shows a very thin tire .... at 335 they are as wide as most peoples back yards nowadays and the tread would be elongated ... im assuming

BTW the tires look good from the side - too bad there is no view from the rear showing the tread or lack of.

This is a long story but I thought I should supply some background and why I was searching for non run flat tires. Moral of run flats is if you get a flat and drive for a very short distance with no or very low air pressure you will be buying a new tire. I know I have driven my C5 for 6 kilometres at only 30 km/h with a flat tire. My tire guy said if I had driven two more kilometres I would have been buying a new tire. So now I drive my car equipped with my air pump and if necessary I'll wait for the flat bed truck. I'm not buying a new $1,000 tire because of a nail.

Here is view of my rear tire showing damage from running low pressure. Tire was damaged when I was returning from the Corvette Reunion in Flint Michigan when I drove hard down I 75 which has massive pot holes. The rear wheel air leak came from two cracks and leaked so fast the tire pressure was only 13 psi when I got home. Of course GM Canada knows nothing about the cracked wheel class action suit in the US and the US Chevrolet extended warranty and reimbursement plan. See US Corvette Forum for details. I also cracked a front wheel. I searched out and found exactly what I wanted in forged wheels from MRR in California. As it turned out my selection is an exact copy of the forged C8 ZR1 wheels option - talk about luck in choice before I knew this. What the heck it is only money and the new wheels go with my PHABULOS licence plate.

I dont think the tread looks bad at all and with a contact patch of 335 mm ... you should be glued to the ground ...
I have the michelin pilot sport 325 25 21 on the rear of my C8 ... and they are basically slicks

Oh BTW happy new year ! and just think ... after a couple or more shots of celebration tonight ... all the tires look pretty much the same .....

The Michelin Pilot Sports are what is on my car now and you are correct about them being like slicks. I just want to be rid of the run flats but I still just love them. 100% better than the miserable Goodyear Supercar tires I ran on my 1999 vert that were noisy, poor wearing, rough riding and expensive - no comparison

I ran the Connie's on my 2019 GS vert and loved them. Great traction for non track driving. Over a couple of years, two roofing nails found their way into the tread but repair was easy and durable.

Continental have the non runflat Extreme Contact Sport 02 that is more oriented for spirited driving. The UTQG of the DWS06 is 560 compare with to the Sport 02 at 340. That means the DWS06 should give about 1.6 the life of the Sport 02. Naturaly, the alignement and the way the car is driven can change these numbers. BTW, they are about the same price

Thanks for the information. When I researched various options I did not realize yhay the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 was a non run flat. I thought the ZR meant zero air pressure and not the speed rating. Now you have corrected me and this is the tread style I was looking for. Now all I have to do is find out who can sell me this tire. Yeah !!

Flat bed it is then. The patch kits are VERY difficult or impossible to use while on the road.

BTW I have a brand new tire inflator and sealant kit from my wife's Lincoln Corsair for sale for $25.00 if anyone is interested. I bought her a peanut wheel to store in it's place. Here's picture of the kit I have,

Cleaning this stuff out is not easy and would most likely take out the TPMS as well. Patch kit or CAA flatbed for the win.

TPMS is cheaper than a new tire . I also have a plug kit . And a scissor jack .

Yup, I had one. Have you ever tried to put a plug in a Connie Extreme Contact or a Michelin Pilot? Nye on impossible without using a power drill to get through the tread material. While on the road, I don't carry a jack, a power drill and a patch kit. I do carry the phone number for GM Roadside and/or OnStar. Excellent service.
