Dead Battery - Engine stops after 5 minutes

The frunk can be completely closed by running the power cord next to the base of the windshield wiper on the
drivers side or beyond the end of the wiper on the passenger side using a microfiber cloth to keep the wire
from touching the paint.
Could there not be an issue using this method as there is no place you can run the wire under the weatherstripping for the frunk and closing it with the wire running on top could possibly deform the weatherstripping after extended use and therefore causing it not to seal properly? I just set the frunk lid down without latching it.

If you hit the first latch the light goes off and no pressure on the seals.. No I didn't sit in the frunk to find out! ;)

Kinda like getting in the fridge and closing the door to see if the light really does go out……I’m here to tell you that it does ! Lol.

Guys, here's the bottom line from GM. An alternator on a C8 is NOT DESIGNED to charge a dead battery!
It will ONLY MAINTAIN a FULLY charged battery. A C8 will completely drain a battery in about a month if it is
not plugged into a maintainer and in many cases may not start after sitting for 3 weeks. If you purchased
the battery protection package on your car, I recommend you use it throughout the year if your car is going
to sit more than two weeks. If you did not purchase it the charger is available through our sponsor GM Parts
Depot by contacting Chris and order part #85132786.

I just put away my c8 for the winter with the maintainer that came with my battery protection plan.
I have the wire running out the front side of my frunck with it not totally closed. Will that be a problem or should I try what you have stated above…. Run the wire at the base of windshield. I just don’t want to pinch the wire and ruin the maintainer let alone do other damage .

Pls lmk.

Thanks

Yes, it has caused a problem with a friend of mine's C8 leaving it open all winter. What side do you want the power to come out?
For me it's the drivers side and by the base of the windshield wiper there is an area where you can run the power cord by a molded
plastic piece and place a microfiber cloth on the paint of the fender and bring the power cord there in front of the windshield.
This also works on the passenger side bringing the cord out near the fender. That way the front frunk hood can close completely without
pinching the cord.

Also helps to keep the cheese eaters out .......

Is it a soft close frunk? If not there is no power if you have it closed on one click. No power, no problem. Cheese eaters on the other hand....
I had a friend of mine with a 2020 HTC, that when he left his hood open with the battery tender attached, if the hood was open over 40 minutes it would give a dash warning that the hood wasn't closed when it was fully closed and double latched.
Everyone, do yourself a favor, run the power cord out of the plastic channel beside the windshield wiper with the hood closed for the winter.

Then he didn't have it on the first click. The light is not on so the switch has been pushed and there is no power.

I'm 98% sure the body controller will turn a light off after 15-20 minutes of no activity, whether it's frunk, interior, or rear hood, when a lid or door is ajar. So that won't kill the battery by itself.
In fact, yesterday I went to get in mine, saw the driver's door ajar when I took the cover off, after 2 weeks on not driving it. Interior lights were out, battery was fine, headlights came on full brightness with door open, it started right up.

Excellent point. Yes, the rundown protection will kick in long before a little frunk light does any damage.
