Buying advice for a 2025 Corvette

The suspension on the non mag ride Z51 is what GM calls the FE3 suspension ..... I would say its not as stiff as the full out mag ride track mode setting

However its pretty tight ... fast turns and the car stays planted .... I really like as I have been in a couple of C8s with mag ride on the various settings and if I had to order again I would not get the mag ride .....

On smooth roads its great ..... on bumpy , pothole roads not so much but still not horrible ... Toronto is full of crappy roads and I avoid them when I take out the C8 as much as possible

OK. No excuse for being lazy I suppose. AI answer . Don't let the non believers know. Although I don't think they are referring to the Stingray with Mag ride .

No, the base suspension of the Corvette Z51 package is not the same as that of the standard Corvette Stingray. The Z51 package includes a stiffer suspension setup with upgraded springs, dampers, and sway bars designed to reduce body roll and enhance track performance, while the base Stingray has a softer, more comfort-oriented suspension configuration.Differences in Suspension ComponentsThe Z51 suspension features stiffer spring rates and dampers for improved handling and reduced body roll during aggressive driving. The base Stingray has a softer ride, prioritizing comfort, and is generally preferred for regular road use.The Z51 package also often includes other performance upgrades such as larger brakes, electronic limited-slip differential, and performance tires, further setting it apart from the standard setup.Driving ExperienceThe Z51's firmer suspension provides better on-center steering feel and significantly improved body control, especially noticeable during high-speed maneuvers or track driving. On everyday roads, some drivers may prefer the softer, more compliant ride of the standard Stingray suspension, which can be perceived as more comfortable for daily driving. In summary, while both suspensions leverage the Corvette’s advanced chassis, the Z51's is tuned for enhanced performance and track readiness, while the base Stingray is tuned for everyday comfort and road use.

Good to know. Not the same suspension as the Stingray . Is it adjustable in any of the settings ? Asking for someone too lazy to look it up.....

The only adjustment on the FE1 and FE3 are a manual adjustment on the spring seats. A pia so not something you want to do regularly but you can adjust the ride somewhat this way to what you prefer for normal driving.

Special tool required I believe....

The statement "No adjustment at all" doesn't apply to the FE4. Z Mode has 6 settings not 4 being Steering, Suspension, Engine/Shift, Brake Feel, Engine Sound and Performance Traction Management. A second push of the Z Mode button also gives you access to other settings like Wet, Dry, Sport, Race 1 and Race 2 which I use on the track. Ron Fellows used Race 1 when I was in the car with him this summer at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park running laps in a Z07, Z06 with CF wheels. The FE4 makes a big difference especially on a track and over uneven surfaces at speed. Officially it is described:
Corvette Stingray customers who opt for the Z51 package can also opt for the Magnetic Ride Control and Performance Traction Management (RPO code FE4). Essentially, Magnetic Ride Control uses accelerometers in the suspension to actively “read” the road and provide data to the ECU, which then adapts the damper settings on the fly for improved ride quality and performance.
Performance Traction Management is a multi-mode traction control system with five different settings for the C8’s various onboard systems, providing greater flexibility for those drivers that want to wrestle more control away from the the computers when it comes to tire slippage on the track.

Very informative as usual. These machines are getting more complicated and computer like by the day . Just took a look and found this about Z mode settings , not a bad description. Cleared up a few questions I had as did your post thanks..... and yes it is AI .

To customize Z Mode on a C8 Corvette for different driving conditions, follow these steps:

Access and Setup

  1. Turn on the car and go to the infotainment screen.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Vehicle > Drive Mode Customization > Z-Mode.
  3. Choose the systems and attributes you want to customize.

Key Attributes to Customize in Z Mode

  • Engine Sound: Choose from Stealth (quietest), Tour, Sport, or Track (loudest/aggressive) depending on desired exhaust volume and presence.
  • Steering: Options are Tour, Sport, and Track, adjusting steering effort and feedback from comfortable to very responsive.
  • Suspension: Also Tour, Sport, and Track, tuning shock stiffness from soft comfort to stiff for high cornering stability.
  • Powertrain: Weather, Tour, Sport, or Track settings adjust throttle response and gear shifting aggressiveness; Track gives most aggressive throttle and shifts.
  • Brake Response: Tour (gentle), Sport, or Track (most immediate and precise braking feel).
  • Performance Traction Management (PTM): Modes such as Off, Wet, Dry, Sport, Race 1, and Race 2 configure stability and traction control for various road and track conditions.

Example Customizations for Driving Conditions

  • Wet Weather Setup:
    • Engine Sound: Tour
    • Steering: Tour
    • Suspension: Tour
    • Powertrain: Weather
    • PTM: Wet
(Maximizes stability and safety in slippery conditions)
  • Daily Driver Setup:
    • Engine Sound: Tour
    • Steering: Tour
    • Suspension: Tour
    • Powertrain: Tour
    • PTM: Off
(Focuses on comfort, smoothness, and fuel efficiency)
  • Sport Road Setup:
    • Engine Sound: Sport
    • Steering: Sport
    • Suspension: Tour
    • Powertrain: Sport
    • PTM: Dry
(Enhances responsiveness for spirited driving while maintaining some comfort)
  • Track Day Setup (for advanced drivers):
    • Engine Sound: Track
    • Steering: Track
    • Suspension: Track
    • Powertrain: Track
    • PTM: Race 2
(Maximum performance and control on high-speed circuits)

I had an opportunity to ride in Mr. Corvette HTC recently, I could tell the slight difference even on decent paved road, it it were on rough surfaces, I bet the difference would be even more so?
Anyone that know how the eLSD in the Z51 FE3/FE4 works, do appreciate it.
Mag ride is a must have FE4 and wish I had on my car. That is just my opinion of course.

Happy shopping @waterbottle !

Im looking to buy 2026 c8 but the dealers all have the same basic 1lt with black interior but they are discounted up to $7000. Was wondering if I custom order one will the dealer give me the same discount?
Welcome to the forum. Mr.Corvette will help you out for sure.

The deals on these cars are incredible right now! Thanks to that gas cap fiasco. Got $15k off my new 2025 Z06. Granted that’s down here in the States. I shipped it from NH to FL. They happened to give me the most for my 2022 Toyota Supra. So it worked out for the best. But those deals can be had all over.
