Battery DEAD DEAD DEAD

They weigh the same .. that’s fiction.
As usual it depends………AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries generally weigh slightly less than traditional flooded lead acid batteries of equivalent capacity. The weight savings for AGM batteries typically range from about 10% to 30% lighter than flooded lead acid batteries. This is because AGM batteries immobilize the electrolyte in a fiberglass mat rather than using free-flowing liquid acid. However, some sources note that AGMs may sometimes be slightly heavier depending on the design and manufacturer, as AGM batteries contain more lead to increase durability and performance.

I didn’t weigh mine (could check easily I suppose)

But the old was heavy AF , the new AGM is heavy AF … both required standing in the frunk to remove and re-install …

So in my opinion , negligible difference

Anti-gravity batteries are where the weight savings are … as well as lightening up your wallet significantly!! lol

Sure they are all heavy. They certainly feel heavier than they did as well , lol. But , not all lead acid batteries weigh the same either. Usually depends on the CCA rating.

Unless you are racing, I would not put the Chinese lithium battery in my car to save the weight.
Warranty is prorated after 6-months and as with most lithium starting battery applications. The extra electronics in the lithium controllers are the weak points this chemistry and not the cell bundles themselves. The majority of the time when these electronics fail, there is little to no warning that you generally have with a lead-acid battery. It is hit or miss whether they last 5 months or 5 years.

10-15 years ago lead acid starter batteries were of better quality than what is built today. Expect to change out your battery at 4-5 years whereas you could have had them last 5-7 years in the late 2000-2010's.

When did this happen and how many km on the odometer ? Sounds like a pain .
It's a 2020 with 30k on it and I will be at 5 years in October. I used a NOCO Genius tender every winter. You know when it's stuck in the garage, it's a real pain to get in to neutral, so you are better off changing it yourself than trying to engage neutral. In hindsight, I should have changed it in the beginning of year 5 in the spring, on my own terms, instead of having it die on me.

A new battery is cheap for the peace of mind…….l :p

It seems that the Odyssey is the premium AGM type battery on the market. It so seems the off road 4X4 crowd speaks highly of the Odyssey over Optima and other AGMs. Including better deep cycle events, better and more lead inside of battery? Down side is a heavier unit than its counterparts.
The choice is up to each person to make whether it is worth the higher cost?

Nice find.

My AGM has been working absolutely flawlessly. Very happy with the choice.
Have you noticed if it does hold charge any better than the LA? I noticed the oem lost about a third after sitting for 2-3 days. According with my GM charger?
I will keep my eyes open if or when CT have a sale on their AGMs, I will make the switch for peace of mind.

Fwiw, I tested my GM battery with a tester for curiosity yesterday. After sitting for 5 days with door unlocked, state of charge for both CCA and CA where 67% - 66%.
I have been trying to make this point for a while. Seems no one has asked themselves why GM has a battery tender available to purchase on the build and price. At $129.00 it's not like they are making a lot of profit so one should ask why they do it . I think your experiment may well show why .

They are cheaper on Amazon. Plus you can buy tons of tenders for a heck of lot less.
