Thanx everyone for the welcomes,new vette owner here wanted one ever since I was a kid an finally took the leap an got a sweet little 07 convert.Had it on trickle charge 2 amps,went back to check and it showed it was overcharging a little so disconnected for to long.when I checked it showed 25%,tried charging 6 amp in the car an alarm came on an lights started blinking.was told if unhooked a bunch of stuff would have to be reset.what to do.

Hi Wade, welcome to CCF. Have you tried putting it back on the 2 amp charge for a while to see if it will slowly bring it back? You should probably consider a smart charger that you can leave on the car all the time if it is going to be sitting for 1-3 weeks so this doesn't happen again.
It will just come on and shut off as needed so the charge stays at full. Check your owners manual for resetting various items if you do end up having to replace the battery.
As Mr.Corvette mentioned, a smart charger is recommended if your 2 amp isn't one already. A traditional trickle charger's output is continuous(which harms the battery over time), while a smart charger monitors and adjusts the voltage in steps, according to the state of charge. NOCO and CTEK are two of the best brands.
I highly recommend that you test the condition of your battery. By your description, it sounds like it may be failing. More than eight years old? Just change it. If battery tests good, check for parasitic draw. A good battery with minimal draw should keep it's charge for a month or two. You can test your battery with a relatively cheap battery tester. The Ancel BA101 Car Battery Tester is a good one for under $50 CAN. Or, if you prefer, take it out and bring it to service centre to have it tested.
If your battery is failing, it will be hard on the home charger and the car's charging system, if you run it this summer. The high resistance in the battery will cause the alternator to work harder and longer. It is just a matter of time before it fails outright...typically at the worst possible moment.

Thanx for the feedback Mr corvette,I did try the 2 amp again but the alarm and lights started flickering again.Im going to try hooking up a second charged battery and see if the lights and alarm stop going off.

Thanx for the info ripcord.Yah I was already thinking smart charger,the battery was new last summer.We had some cooler days& nights in Jan & feb and I didn’t check it for about 5 wks therefore the discharge.
Hi Wade, a new battery or fully charged one that fits should fix your problem. Do look into a battery tender -smart charger to prevent the same thing from happening again. Let us know how you made out!
