We have a battery plant that can convert to building the Chinese spec fast charging battery or something in a collaboration with them? If that 49k quota increases we an ask tbem to essamble here or build our Canadian specific model as well.I don't know why Premier Ford is so bent on keeping them out of Canada. Turdump is trying to take away all auto manufacturing from Ontario anyway.

It just gives Ford something to get bent on. Ford doesn't accept that the agreement with China allowing the canola, beef, pork and seafood export brings $50 billion into Canada. 3% of the Ontario auto industry is a small price to pay.I don't know why Premier Ford is so bent on keeping them out of Canada. Ya, of course he IS thinking of Ontario only. It's likely hard for a provincial premier to see the big picture. It just gives Ford something to get bent on. Agreed, especially some provincial premiers that don't give to $hits about the rest of Canada as long as their Federal cheques keep coming. After all, Canada doesn't need agriculture. We can get our food at Sobeys.Ya, of course he IS thinking of Ontario only. It's likely hard for a provincial premier to see the big picture.

Even their cheapest ev is full of options that we don't normally see in a $35k car from anywhere. Good bye to Tesla which is a good thing in the present time.Unfortunately we will only see a very base model here as the agreement limits the retail price to $35,000. The high end Chinese EV's won't be available here....Yet...
Predictable from the big three.Ford is being a politician. He has to speak out on behalf of the Ontario auto industry to show support. But he also knows that this country has no real auto industry...we just assemble cars for the US market. We have no product development, no engineering department, no marketing development...all is done by by the GM's, Ford"s, and Stellantis of the US and Europe, then handed off to us to follow suit. All we supply are parts, labour, and assembly. So, for Canada to turn towards China for new, well made and inexpensive vehicles, and to also employ our people in assembly plants based here in Canada, we will effectively be doing the same thing, but without US influence. What is not happening is these Big Three have not been progressive in their development of EVs, and have allowed the Chinese to outgun them in product development. Now they throw their hands up and beg the government to protect them. Yeah sure Stellantis...where is our $10,000,000 support payment towards the plant you just closed? It's our money...give it back.
And all Canadians should be boycotting Chrysler dealerships across Canada.
Just don't buy Teslas. The guy is a puke, doesn't give a damn about his employees, basically a very rich nutjob.
