Why do people continue to live in the madness of Toronto ? Or the very expensive rain forest of Hongcouver. There is a lot more to life than work.......don't knock it unless you have tried it.Why the F are you still up there then?

At least I can drive my Sports car 12 months a year. Why do people continue to live in the madness of Toronto ? Or the very expensive rain forest of Hongcouver. There is a lot more to life than work.......don't knock it unless you have tried it.
I have a pretty good idea where you are located . Relatively rural which is nice I'm sure you wouldn't be there if you didn't like it. I am ' unemployed ' by choice actually. Never liked the term retired , lol. I am fortunate to be in a position where I could live practically anywhere I chose but have enjoyed living here very much up to this point but that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider relocating. Winters aren't getting a lot shorter so everyone get out there and burn some gas please !At least I can drive my Sports car 12 months a year.
If Canada had admitted St Thoma to Canada, I'd likely be there... maybe. lol
I admit I don't want to mow the lawn 52 weeks a year, nor shovel snow 8 months a year.
I don't live in Toronto. I live in Uxbridge. Plus I don't work. I'm retired, but I might still be working if I hadn't been forced to retire. lol
I thought all very north Northerners belong to the Polar Bear's Club?I think I parked it October 20 last fall. Was out for a drive this evening and had all of the heat cranked, lol. And I will be away for a couple of weeks after the end of the month so maybe only a week left perhaps. Sim rig comes out of storage soon it looks like.
Child's play , lol.I thought all very north Northerners belong to the Polar Bear's Club?
The Turks and Caicos had lobbied for years to join Canada with vocal support from several MP's but it hasn't happened. Absolutely beautiful islands but I read recently that their crime and murder rates have gotten quite high over the past couple of years. Transnational drug trafficking, gangs , general crime. A lot of it being blamed on Haitian immigrants. Can't blame them, criminals or not, for wanting to leave Haiti though. A shame for the average resident. At least I can drive my Sports car 12 months a year.

Ya, I think that was a large reason why their bid failed. You think our deficit now is bad. They use the US dollar as do a number of other places which would bode well for the residents if they were able to join Canada but .....The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory. They have internal self-government with a locally elected government led by a Premier. The British monarch, currently King Charles III, is the head of state and is represented locally by an appointed governor who oversees external affairs, including defense. The United Kingdom has ultimate authority over foreign affairs and defense, while the locally elected government manages internal matters. The islands have a parliamentary system with legislative power vested in a unicameral House of Assembly. The governor is appointed by the British monarch on the advice of the UK's Foreign Office. The territory's government experienced direct British rule from 2009 to 2012 due to corruption issues, but full self-government was restored after new elections and a revised constitution in 2012 .Ya, I think that was a large reason why their bid failed. Most of the citizens are impoverished. Only the rich resort owners do well. That's what I meant when I mentioned the cash required. They use the US dollar as do a number of other places which would bode well for the residents if they were able to join Canada but .....The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory.
