I grew up very fortunate to spend a lot of time with my father, brother, and family friends going to all sorts of car shows throughout Ontario and even a few in the U.S.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to attend some pretty big auctions and have made it out to the Woodward Dream Cruise a handful of times. One event I’ve always wanted to experience, but haven’t made it to yet, is Corvettes at Carlisle.

I actually had plans to go down this year with a pretty large group of friends, but unfortunately those plans ended up falling apart.

I’m curious how many people here have made the trip down to Carlisle for the Corvette show. What did you think of it? Is it one of those events every Corvette enthusiast should experience at least once?

And while we’re on the topic, are there any other big Corvette or general car events you think are worth making a trip for?

There are a number of shows in the next month that are all really good - 2 are generally focused on classic cars of all types, including some Corvettes and the other is the largest British car show in North America. I went there for the first time last year & plan to go back in September. My first sports car before my 42-year series of Corvettes was a 74 MGB, so that show is particularly nostalgic for me.

There's also the Kars on King in Oshawa next Friday which I'm going to - Kars on King | City of Oshawa (https://www.oshawa.ca/explore-play/city-events/kars-on-king/)

I will be at Autofest this year after a 2 year hiatus, very excited for that!

Two in the next few weeks that I would recommend. Tomorrow, Sunday August 16 is the Corvette Club of Ontario's big car show being held at Gateway Chev in Brampton. There are usually 200+ Corvettes at this show. Attractions this year will be the ZR1-X supplied by General Motors. There will be several other ZR1s there as well as AWA's race car that won the Daytona 24 hour race last year. The other show coming up is the "Cruisin for a Cure" on September 13th at the CAA Centre, 7575 Kennedy Rd. South in Brampton. This show has a lot of everything especially unusual classics. Probably over 300 cars at this show. Ah yes, you should go to Carlisle at least once. It is a monster and has more vendors of old Corvette parts than all the other shows combined. Corvette Awwembly from Bowling Green often has a team there doing seminars as well.
