Go Leafs Go. Some very good hockey.

Well Fred the Leafs lost but played a really good game. Sunday night will be wild.

Although it is hard to do, but just because I like you, I will cheer for Montreal tonight. It too will be a wild one.

Jays won and Joey Bats finally did something. Love baseball and all the stats they keep. If correct they stated that no team in modern history has ever made the playoffs with the record the Jays have for the start of the season. They have traded a lot of players over the years, some forgettable some not. I miss my buddy Kawasaki the most, a team spark plug with a great personality. How much would it have cost to keep him? He was reliable but his baseball skills were only part of it.

Canadian teams in the playoffs has to be a good thing.:canada::canada:

Ohhhh... sorry being a life long Leafs fan and not subscribing to the Canadian teams theory I am in fully in the ABH camp. Anyone but the Habs :). So tonight I cheer for the Rangers to put them out of my misery :p
I am not as pleased with the Leafs play as B03 as I thought there was some long stretches the Caps out played the Leafs in both of the last 2 games. But that is not unexpected with a young first time playoff team vs arguably the top team in the NHL this past regular season. And just to make the playoffs and keep very close to the Caps is a great learning experience for the team and the kids. Go Leafs!

PS: Go Red Sox :)

Hmmmmm.... How to be diplomatic....(unlike Randy... ABH Randy? Really!).........

I am a Canadian team fan through and through, and although the Habs are not extremely high on my list, the more Canadian teams that stay in and have a chance of going all the way, the better. So IF and until all the Canadian teams might be eliminated, I am cheering for them all. But truth be told, Edmonton has held a place in my heart for 37 years now so they will be my first choice to make it to the end. Go Oilers Go!

Absolutely. If the Canadiens were playing the Red Army I would be going Da Comrade :). And I have no issue with any Habs fans chirping me about the Leafs.. 1967.. whatever. I can take it too. I have been a Leafs fan for a lot of decades through thick and thin...and thin...and thinner..and anorexia LOL

Hmmmmm.... How to be diplomatic....(unlike Randy... ABH Randy? Really!).........

Pep, my impression of the play is somewhat limited to the fact that last nights game was the first I watched all season. I am not a band wagon jumper or a johnny come lately to the show. However I absolutely hate the management of the Toronto Maple Leafs. For years it was the same old BS, "this is the year" "well wait till you see what we have in store for the fans next year". Decade of incompetence and people still held on to hope.

They jack the prices up till no one but a business could afford to go to a game. Want a Big Mac and a beer, take in the optional paper bag with the blue leaf on it for $400.00 even. They have have some great players, the occasional great coach but no matter they still managed to screw the pooch and still the money keeps flowing in. Zero incentive to put a better product on the ice. They just lucked out with some of the players they have now because they were so horrible. Just MO.

for years I would agree with you completely. After Shanahan took over things have changed in the management suite. He had his plan on what he needed to do and has followed it. This years playoffs mainly because of the 25% chance of winning the lottery and getting Matthews which is luck for sure, has been advanced perhaps 1 year sooner than he thought.

But management was the issue since the mid 90's after they fired Fletcher. And the prices are bad in all canuck cities but I can imagine what they are in Toronto for sure. I can appreciate and respect your opinion.

I was row 2 behind the goad for the first playoff game..... was fun except for the results

Game 5 I watched in the bar after picking up the American Callaway Corvette rep ( a long time friend ) at the airport who is in Edmonton now for the auto show / Sherwood Chev ( I have a private viewing of a new Callaway Z06 SC757 ( 757hp ) car today at 4pm that is sold and waiting to be delivered )

Tonight I got him and I tickets in the Sportsnet Club to watch the away game in Rogers Place at the Orange Crush party....... lets hope they win tonight in San Jose! He is excited to see Rogers Place

Go Oilers Go tonight.

We all driving a Corvette(s) is a "team" with a passion and comradery that I truly am impressed and amazed with as I build with pride in the short time that I have owned one.

Hockey is a lifetime passion with variable degrees of comradery as a Player and then "Hockey Mom" (which I now see "Hockey Dad") on down to what I refer to as the lesser of extreme. As a Player, I loved the spectator attribute in the game. It was like none other. Other than the roar & cheer I never enjoyed any off the ice shenanigans as I don't think it serves any real purpose. I must say in this thread that the Playoffs are very enjoyable this year versus what we had a year ago without a Canadian Team. (I picked myself up last year by shopping for my Corvette) One Goal Hockey Games are the most enjoyable. They go either way and are very much enjoyed in the moment if they go your way. I always remain humble toward those for which the game did not go their way. Any Canadian Team hoisting the Cup this year is highest on my list second only to hitting the road in my Corvette ... for which at that moment I will no longer multi-task.

I almost fear what I will be doing if there is any other year when a Canadian Team is not in the Playoffs when thinking of my 90k(msrp) commitment that I made last year ...

Enjoy the Hockey & Cheers to y'all!

:bawling::bawling: All I can say is GO Jays (EXPOS) GO! Even the Icecaps lost last night in the AHL playoffs:Arghh:
:canada: Who do I cheer on next?? :canada: Edmonton is exciting to watch and so is Toronto. But cheering for the Leafs? Naahh! Go OILERS Go!! :canada:

I agree the stats in baseball are something else. The Jays have a chance to prove something now.

As a life long hockey fan and one who played every day and every weekend growing up in London Ont., I am, and have lost, my way as regards the way the game is played now: no red line, huge offensive zone, shuffle board style - blue line to blue line off the boards - 10 players inside the blue line - no wonder there is no finess plays anymore -hard enough to even get the puck to the net. I have watched some of the play offs: clutching, grabbing, interference & slashing with no calls; then, after every whistle face washing, shoving and hitting - delaying the game - a delay of the game penalty should be called on the team that is first with any of these after the whistle is blown. This is my rant for the day. The Leafs are my de facto team right now.

Playoffs do show a different interpretation of the rules and we see that even the scoreboard has an influence at times. Rules changes have not been for us old-schoolers for sure. I do remember hurting quite a bit when I played as a kid and the rules today would have maybe avoided some of it. I do remember it much like it was yesterday. For me, I kept a copy of all the games in the Playoff/Cup Run of the Flames in '89 and I watch it from time to time to enjoy how hockey was once played. One Goal Games regardless of teams right now are keeping me watching ...

SN-III: "Old-School" is good as it relates to many things including hockey; unfortunately, we can no longer experience many things that in my opinion, were better in the good ole days. It would have been nice to have the technology of to-day back when I played: light weight hockey sticks (remember those heavy Sherwoods) with incredible flex, light weight sturdy skates and equipment that actually protected you.
