Newb to the Corvette side. So while I was signing on the dotted line, the salesman was of course trying to sell me all the various protection packages. Not being born last night, I declined. He mentioned paint protection again and I said that I still wax my cars. He told me that “old school wax can’t be used on these cars”.
So…really? I get it these cars are probably painted with water-borne paints. Does one really have to use ceramic coatings? I’m not against them in any way, I just have multiple vehicles that still look new since I wax them once or twice a year.

Total baloney...they tried to sell me the same on my C7. I've had Corvettes for 40+ years and an annual waxing with my electric buffer keeps the finish looking like new. I sold the C3 and C5 both at age 21 and they both still looked like new at that time. The C7 after 7 years is the same.

Your salesman is crafty. They farm out the PPF and Ceramic work and make a great markup or kickback. But he's full of $hit telling you that you can't use wax on your car. No matter what the paint is, these cars are all clear coated. I am a big proponent of paint protection film. I have numerous areas of my C7 done with it. No ceramic but I wax the entire car (ppf and all) twice a year with "old school" wax and my 11 year old still passes for 'showroom'.... JMO and if I'm mistaken by some slim chance, I'm sure someone will chime in.

Wax mine just before hibernation so it is nice and shiny when I take the cover off (very soon). Then during the year the front end gets touched up fairly often just so the bugs don't stick. Glass gets REJEX
I still get compliments.

I used various waxes on my '13 C7Z. When I traded in for my C8, the dealer was very impressed with how good it looked and complimented me on the paint finish.

Everything was done online with photos. He treated me fairly I believe. But who knows? I bought a bunch of Vettes from our biggest dealer in RH, but ended up going to Williamsons in Uxbridge when I bought the C7Z as previous dealer really tried to lowball me on my trade in. The C8 came from out of town as it was spec'ed exactly the way I wanted it. I'm happy with deal, but with all the cars I've bought over my 74 years, I was never niave enough to think I got the best of a car dealer. Just shopped around until I got a deal that made me happy.

I always try to make sure my head is nicely waxed before I go to a car dealer. ;)
