I was out cruising the other day and out of nowhere the transmission was only shifting gears on even numbers... so only shifting from 2nd to 4th to 6th.
I had never heard of this and didn't know what to do. At the next stop sign, I shut the car off completely, started it back up, and everything was fine after that. No issues shifting through all gears. But when I got home, I noticed the engine light on and I got the notification in the Chevrolet app that I should be taking it in to have it looked at. It's not saying what the issue is.
I have an appointment now to take it into the dealer, but it's not going in until 2 weeks from now.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, any heads-up you can share?
Thanks!

your C8 Corvette’s transmission is skipping gears—such as shifting directly from 2nd to 4th or 4th to 6th—this is not normal behavior for the dual-clutch transmission (DCT). In most cases, the DCT should sequentially engage each gear unless there’s a performance or calibration issue at play.
Possible Causes
• Transmission Control Module (TCM) Issues or Software Calibration: The TCM manages gear selection and clutch engagement. Outdated or corrupted software can cause erratic shifting or missed gears. GM has issued updates for the TCM in response to similar issues.
• DCT Filter or Fluid Problems: A clogged or contaminated DCT filter, or low/contaminated transmission fluid, can cause the transmission to skip gears or disable certain gears entirely. Some owners report that replacing the DCT filter resolved similar issues.
• Mechanical Faults: Internal transmission faults—such as issues with the clutch packs, gear selectors, or hydraulic components—can cause the system to skip gears or lose access to even or odd gears. In some cases, this has led to complete transmission replacement.
• Sensor or Wiring Faults: Faulty sensors or wiring can interrupt communication between the TCM and transmission, leading to missed shifts or disabled gears.
• Idle Creep or Warning Messages: If you see warnings like “Idle creep Transmission temporarily disabled,” this usually indicates a fault detected by the system, which can result in skipping gears or loss of certain gears.
Yes, software or sensor malfunctions can trigger irregular gear shifts, including skipping gears like from 2nd to 4th. Modern transmissions rely on software to interpret sensor data and control shift timing; if the software misinterprets data or fails to communicate properly, it can cause delayed, rough, or skipped shifts. Sensor failures can also send incorrect signals to the transmission control module, leading to unexpected gear selection or even activating limp mode. These issues typically require diagnostic tools and expertise to resolve.
