Here's my food for thought today.
I have never been a fan of the artificial intelligence advancements that have been made in the last number of years and even more so as AI has progressed of late. In my opinion ChatGBT or whatever it's called and @1stVette's best friend Perplexity, and likely way more programy things I'm not familiar with, are just one more step towards humans losing control. Once we lose the control over an AI that has the capacity to out think us and can make it's own decisions on what it thinks is best for mankind, then what next. Are Terminator/Matrix scenarios in the world's future? Scientists started worrying about climate change around the early 60's but it never really hit the news until the late 80's, and never really made any
in-your-face impact on anyone until the last few years. AI control might be a lot closer to a catastrophe than climate change.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not shitting my pants paranoid on either AI or climate change forecasts as I'm at an age where likely neither will affect me much (if I had children I might think differently). Just tossing it out there for comments on something other than politics...Now there's a change... lol...

Computing power does have it's uses but if we let it run the world it would quite probably surmise that we are a burden on the planet.
