1988 Convertable
Morning all; please allow me to introduce myself.

I am a 57 year young semi-retired steel worker. I have wanted a Corvette, for more years than I can remember, but it seems life has alway gotten in the way of this dream....untill now. With my kids now married off and starting there own lives, it's time for me to "Stroke one of my Bucket List"

I have been lurking here for a few months now, taking in as much information as I have been able to swallow. I am no expert in corvettes or cars in general. But fortunately for me, my oldest son is a mechanic and has been a great help in my search.

What I have found and now purchased is a unmolested 88 convertible. This is a car that had been produced for the Canadian market. I will be the third owner, the first only having it the first couple of years. The car is almost all original with the exception of some wonky tail pipe extensions and the Firestone tires. 47,000 kilometer; Loaded with options, Z52 package, six way power seats, comfort control, power door locks and windows. Everything on the car is in working order, even the Bose stereo. Original paint is a bit faded and there is a few stone chips, but nothing a good detailing should not be able to bring back to life. The top is not bad, no leaks but is showing it's age.
All in All, This is a solid car and I think I will be very happy with it. I did look at a number of C4's in the 8k range and was not happy with what I was seeing. This one set me back 10k or so, but I think the extra cost will be worth it in the long run. Not worrying about investment, I just want a good car to cruse on the weekends. For now it will be in the garage awaiting the spring......might be a long winter.
I did get it out a couple of time last week when the weather was still not to bad. I know that the C4 is kind of the Rodney Dangerfield of the Vette world, but I have to tell ya; it sure put a big smile on my face.

A couple of pictures to follow, sorry these are not the best quality, I will try and get some better shots once I get the chance, and have the car cleaned up nice.

Not sure about the ref to RD -- the C4 is what resparked my interest in 'vettes
and was such a beauty at the time - and still is.

Yes the winter may be a little long for you.......I can relate, also with a fairly new ride in the garage -- but spring will be such a sweet time won't it and really not that far off :D

Cheers, and if you get a chance post more pics and details. we love both.

Colin up in Cambridge.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
I have been poking around this site and have found some informative and interesting information. As a new guy to corvette ownership, and certainly not very knowledgeable, you can expect a lot of questions from me over the next few months.
Since my first post here; this past weekend found the weather to be not too bad here in southern Ontario. Still too cold for top down, but I did manage to get out for a small run to Port Dover and back....... now I will have a perm-i-smile until spring...
Once again.thanks for the welcome.

Once again nice to have you along Brian.. The weather has been unusually nice at times lately and I'm hoping for a few more odd days of sun to enjoy our 'vettes . A few of us have a mini meet in Hamilton area for lunch hopefully this week -- which promises to be nice once again at times.
Top down or roof off might be pushin' it tho.:D

Hope you get some more seat time in your new toy too b4 the 'inevitable' hits us.

Cheers
Colin.
