Does GM offer "Not Installing OTA Update" Warranty Coverage?
The stupid thing is they almost never tell you what the update is doing! With recalls they do. My malibu has a recall for the sunroof switch to make it a must hold to close from a single push to close. I always declined that recall when I took the car in for service.
If they are gonna make you update or else they should tell you what the update is for!

Funny how people were saying "I'm not gonna buy a 1st year model" and for most there has been no issue...
I swore I'd never buy another first model year after the Beretta.
1st LS1 model year in the 98 Camaro. DOH!
1st model year in the C8!
OH well, I swear I'll never swear to anything again! lol

A while ago I declined an update that popped up because I had just seen where a particular update , which of course they didn’t say which one , could cause your battery to drain for no apparent reason. Then a message popped up saying to get any further updates I’d have to visit a dealer. Ya , easy for them to say . There have been a few come out since but of course I didn’t get them. Vehicle is running fine. I’ll get them done when I go for the TX service. If mine was a 25 I’d be in a bit of a pickle. What dicks .

One of the updates recently, was going into a dealer to update the car, so the over the air updates would work!!
Hmmm , lol. With no side trips that would mean a return trip of 3,000 km if I went to my original dealership. I do have an option though only 2,000 km round trip in Peace River . Great folks incidentally at Mighty Peace GMC . And a Corvette dealer. This just demonstrates how asinine the new GM policy is. Makes me think twice before selling my 64 . Set the points/dwell/ timing and Bobs your cousin.

You are not obligated to go to your original Dealer. Too bad "Perplexity" wasn't available a couple of years back when you started to research your new purchase lol...
Did the research but had no options. Every Gm dealer even if not an authorized Vette reseller has to accommodate you according to GM . But do you want them to ? A lot of the ones in the weeds don’t have the updated equipment to do the required updates. My local GM dealer wasn’t even sure about an oil change. Jesus! JiffyLube were awesome, lol.

Look, 5 years in I've have been to 4 different Dealerships. Within the most populist part of the Country. You don't need to be a "Corvette Service Specialist " to work on these cars. Any top mechanic with access to YouTube can figure it out...
Agreed but for me there are some decent mechanics here but without access to the GM servers for software/firmware updates at least as far as I can tell . Only thing I “ need “ is software updates until the TX service. Car runs fine thankfully.

Local GM dealer isn’t my first choice for a number of reasons even if they are the only one within 1,000 km . Only thing I “ need “ is software updates until the TX service. Car runs fine thankfully.
I haven’t seen any dire updates recently. With your car, I would wait till I go back to Edmonton for the transmission service you were saying previously, and have everything done at that time. Your car should be running perfectly with the current software that it has.
