My rural projects are definitely no “dream” with by-laws as well. Rockyview County builds are definitely something I will not miss in retirement … in the meantime … my residential drawing has gone from 3 pages in the 90’s, to 8 pages, then 12 to now 16-20 pages to mainly illustrate compliance and detailed energy efficiency calculations before one even gets to break ground. Costly as heck “to follow the rules” but much less than when found with any infraction during the build.
This detached garage project will cost today as much as it cost to build the 2200sqft residence in 1990. Now feeling old with this “remember when …” reference
