Has anyone else gone in for the latest software recall, and if so about how long did it take? I took mine in a couple of weeks ago and it sat in the lot for 6 hours before they called and said they wouldn’t be able to get to it that day and they wanted to keep my car overnight. I live an hour outside of the city so can and uber weren’t an option so we rescheduled for a couple of weeks later. Same thing, they had it all day and weren’t able to complete and got me a rental to get home so they could keep it overnight.

Is that a normal experience or am I dealing with an incompetent dealership?

I was into a totally competent dealer in the Guelph area that sees a lot of corvettes a week ago. They did the 2 recalls oil and filter and the trans. canister change. They took about 4.5 hours for the whole job.
Thanks a million, I appreciate the reply. I was pretty sure I was dealing with incompetence but wanted to confirm before looking for another dealership for service.

You should of stayed at the dealership. I am going for my oil change tomorrow and they will do the update and I will be waiting for it to be ready and respect my 1 pm appointment. When you leave your car and go home, they will pass others ahead of you.

I did the software update and Console button replacement last week. No charge as all was under warranty took 2 hours to complete. Everything has worked fine since I left the dealership. I think the button replacement took the longest as I only saw the car sitting in the workshop for about 1 hour. It did go over to the autobody shop for the button replacement. The service manager gave me updates and seeing that it was under warranty I left without the paper copy of the workorder. It is going to come in a email to me. Yes the work was done at Wilson Niblett, great service, super guys, free coffee. There was another C8 Stingray there for the same Software update.

Do you know what this update is for?

It was the software update to fix the issue of downloading software updates. It seems that some times the download hangs and can deplete the battery so the car may not start. In IT terms the system hangs but keeps the computers up and running. I received a letter in the mail about a month ago. I don't have the recall letter handy.

Updates are di
What year of cars does this recall apply to ?
Updates are different than recalls.
Updates sometimes tell you what they are for, some don't and some are vague.
Recalls can't be solved with an OTA update which they can push to your car.
Recalls can be found here. (Copy the link and add your vin to the end)

I got a letter in the mail about this.

Ok, no update today, just oil change. They took too long with the oil change. So now I have to wait till 25/06/25. I was told about 45 minutes to do but does not mean it goes in on time.

I always leave my car. I've got better things to do than to wait around at a dealership.

I did a long time ago and had too many surprises, like, sorry did not have time, car was filthy, so now I wait. My car went in on time, 1pm, but the work was done by a new mechanic. So he took his time so has not to screw up, I guess. Anyway I live 22 ks from the dealer so I cannot walk to it. Sometimes I do go for breakfast, if I get an early appointment. Lots of restaurants around and even a pot store , if I want to get high. :p ;)

A lot depends on how many Corvette Techs a dealership has. I used to use Gateway in Brampton and they only had one Corvette Tech so if another job got bogged down then my car sat parked. With my C8 I started going to Humerview where I purchased the car and they have several Corvette Techs. I always make a phone appointment and explain to them that I plan to wait for the car and can the phone person check and make sure that they can do the job while I wait. Been happy so far. Coming up to three years now so have to take it in for the 3-year transmission service so will see how they handle that.
