It pays to be informed. Took my car in for the TX filter service this morning after having made an appointment back in April. Was told they open at 8am . I arrive at 7:45 to find the drive through service bays open with at least 6 cars in each line . Eventually get in and talk to one of the 5 service reps at a line of desks and she called me by name after a look at the terminal without asking who I was . Perhaps because of the car being the only Vette in sight I suppose. Good sign I think to myself. So she says, TX service, firmware updates and you are past two years so no free oil change . No problem I said as I just changed it anyway. Now the fun part . She says the only charge will be the $ 1,700 for the TX service.
I look at her and said no , it's included, no it's not, yes it is , no it's not . Jesus. I try to explain to her that for the 24 MY you have 3 years . She calls the service manager at least that's what I assumed. She says only the first two years. So I just happened to have The GM Home Office letter stating that for the 24 MY you now have 3 years not 2 . That put her nose out of joint but after calling the service manager again and giving him the bulletin # finally said we'll l guess maybe it is . No sorry about that , we should have known, nada . Not impressed at all and this is at the 9th largest Corvette dealership in Canada.
So the moral of this distasteful story is when you go for service go prepared and know what you are entitled to and bring documentation to back it up . Had I not been aware I would be out $1,700 . Which is close to double what I have seen others charged to add insult to injury. I sure there are owners who aren't aware being bent over and not even getting a kiss.....

If you were only getting the filter change that is free in the 1st 3 years or at 12.000 kms. that price is high for just a filter change.

Or were you getting the 3 year fluid change ?
Nope . Just the 12,000 km external filter service as required for warranty. Not fluid change or internal filter replacement. And yes that price is outrageous I would say.

I'm glad I bought the essential service.
This is my 6th year and I need the tranny fluid replaced again.
I paid ~$2550 for the package and this will be my second tranny fluid change.
I suspect that would be an expensive procedure otherwise. Not sure how many are aware but if you read the 24' owners manual at least it indicates that the TX fluid has to be changed every 3 years regardless of the monitor or milage much like oil once a year regardless of monitor or milage. Could potentially be an expensive oversight. What's your current mileage?

Yup, I got the essential service package too...The tx servicing and the yearly oil changes will more than pay for it.
Make sure you take note of the time factor regarding TX fluid change...... every 3 years it seems is required. If anyone knows differently please let us know where you found the information. That alone makes it worth it. Means another road trip for me next spring. I know where I probably won't be going though.

Wow $1700 thats crazy I got a filter for $159.. planning on doing it a few times before the free 11000km one.
Yes, can't hurt. It has to be done between 11,500 and 12,500 to keep GM happy. As I pulled up to the service department the odometer was showing 11,512 . Just enough, lol. They did cross swap my tires and didn't charge for it. So there's that in their good column. And they were quite pleasant when I picked it up. And did shuttle me back and forth from my hotel. Doesn't excuse trying to charge for the TX service though.
