It pays to be informed. Took my car in for the TX filter service this morning after having made an appointment back in April. Was told they open at 8am . I arrive at 7:45 to find the drive through service bays open with at least 6 cars in each line . Eventually get in and talk to one of the 5 service reps at a line of desks and she called me by name after a look at the terminal without asking who I was . Perhaps because of the car being the only Vette in sight I suppose. Good sign I think to myself. So she says, TX service, firmware updates and you are past two years so no free oil change . No problem I said as I just changed it anyway. Now the fun part . She says the only charge will be the $ 1,700 for the TX service.
I look at her and said no , it's included, no it's not, yes it is , no it's not . Jesus. I try to explain to her that for the 24 MY you have 3 years . She calls the service manager at least that's what I assumed. She says only the first two years. So I just happened to have The GM Home Office letter stating that for the 24 MY you now have 3 years not 2 . That put her nose out of joint but after calling the service manager again and giving him the bulletin # finally said we'll l guess maybe it is . No sorry about that , we should have known, nada . Not impressed at all and this is at the 9th largest Corvette dealership in Canada.
So the moral of this distasteful story is when you go for service go prepared and know what you are entitled to and bring documentation to back it up . Had I not been aware I would be out $1,700 . Which is close to double what I have seen others charged to add insult to injury. I sure there are owners who aren't aware being bent over and not even getting a kiss.....
