Yesterday when launching the GM Navigation system I would get an error message stating the SD card was removed. Yes it was in the centre console. No big deal, dealer replaced it today. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Learned my lesson and made a back up copy. I would recommend anyone who is coming up on the end of their warranty do the same. Apparently they’re expensive to replace.

My daughter bought a rare, standard transmission, base model Maxda CX5. The dealer cautioned that at the base level things like Navigation were "unavailable". Even if it were the SD card was about $400.00. She got home, found an SD slot in the centre console, went on line a and found an SD card for $35 and has "unavailable" Navigation. Just sayin, there might be something on line.

If I understand you correctly, an SD card was placed in the centre console but the navigation software was not installed? Maybe there’s a slot but no wiring harness?

What size is the SD card that is comes with? I don't have my C8 yet...
I'd say making a backup sounds like a good plan. SD cards wear out over time.
There was 14 gigs of data on the card. I would buy a 32 gig card just to be on the safe side. You don’t need to buy an SD card right away. You can pull out the one that comes with the car and just copy the data on to your computer. If the card fails, then buy a card and copy the data over to it.

The dealer told me the nav card is $500!! If it wasn’t under warranty, I would never purchase it!

Sorry if not clear. All she did was buy an SD card for Mazda Navigation and plug it into a port in the console labeled navigation. She has full navigation.

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to make a back-up of the card.

Your car will have wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay so the card, for you, will eventually be old data anyway. There are better apps, like Waze, that work.
My 2020 is all wired and not worth the trouble

I think this will become a subscription in the future. Subscribe and no ads. Not subscribed, you’ll get an ad just before having to make a turn resulting in you ending up in a lake 😂😂
