Remote & Key

When I had my C5 it only came with one key and no remote fob...so I ordered a spare key from the dealer at the time. I think it was about $55 but that was a number of years ago. I never bothered to get the fob...it was easy enough to open the doors and hatch with the regular key.

FOB"s are expensive Probably set you back a few hundred from GM
Then it has to be programmed.
Some Canadian Tire outlets at one time at least were able to do that but perhaps not for the more advanced units out now . Prices were really good. Might be worth a 2 minute phone call.

If you can find a new remote, you can program it yourself.

To program the remote for a 1998 Corvette, follow these steps:
  1. Turn the ignition on and turn off the radio.
  2. Press the Driver Information Center (DIC) RESET button.
  3. Press the OPTIONS button until the display shows a blank screen.
  4. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds.
  5. Press the OPTIONS button until "FOB TRAINING" is displayed.
  6. Press the RESET button to begin programming.
  7. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote for 13 seconds. A message will appear when the remote is programmed.
  8. Repeat the process for additional remotes if needed.
  9. Turn the ignition off and remove the keys from the ignition to test the remotes.

I lost my Remote and key. Need a new one for a 98 C5 Vette, where to buy?
Best place, dealership, EBay etc. thanks
