how do you post pictures ? i'm being told the file is too big. do i still need to use photobucket ? please, no techno-speak, keep in mind i'm a knuckle dragging mouth breather. i use only the laptop.also, how do i find the smilies ?

Posting pics should be really simple (famous last words). You can drag/drop a pic right into the window you're typing in and hit post.
We have a limit of 10Mb for pictures and I just removed a restriction on picture size so try again.

Pictures posted directly (from your PC/mobile device) are currently setup to show as thumbnails, if there's a call to show full resolution pics instead of thumbnails we will consider putting that feature in.

OK, you're definitely hitting the upload size limits, that's a massive pic you got there
I'll up the limit tonight but definitely consider resizing it down a bit. The storage we provide is free but not unlimited If you'd like to upload this immediately I'd recomment sizing the resolution down from 3984x2656 to 1920x1080. Will give viewers a better experience. I'll drop a note in this thread when the adjustments have been made.

I might suggest compressing them with a program such as Office Picture Editor (or any of the many free ones) and you will see the same picture reduced to about 3-7ooK with no quality loss. This is integral on site performance first and foremost; sites should never be loading such heavy piks. Secondly, larger piks can throw the entire page right out of proportion and also make them take much longer to load. I run two web sites and a Forum large piks that size are a def no no...site speed is most important.

If you're struggling with the tools try this free online photo resizer:

Drop your pic and it'll spit out a default size that's considerably smaller, download the new pic and upload here.
I'm sure there are better online tools, this one came up first on a search.
Not sure if you've found them or not Doug but the smilies are in the toolbar atop each reply post. Just click on the little smiling face.

Hey Buckhorn. A tip from another knuckle dragger with a laptop.... you will have a program on your putr called "Paint". Comes free with Microsoft windows (your operating system). open it. open or drag your pic into it. click resize. type in ..... lets say 50 %. save it.... and voila`.... your pic is now half the size it was.... good luck....
That's a good point, Rruuffday, most of us are more interested in Car's and Corvette's, the reason most of us come here. We are not here to Facebook, Twitter or Tweat, InstaGram or anything else. Cut the crap and keep it simple.

i've got a good program with nero 9 that i might play with but it's probably easier for me to keep using photobucket.i'm with you don on facebook and all that other stuff. my old phone does'nt take pictures, only makes calls and the buttons are a decent size. don't know how to text and don't wanna learn either. hell, i don't even know the number on the cell, i've got it written down somewhere but i usually ask my wife. when someone asks for my facebook page it takes awhile before i quit laughin'.

I've made another change that should resize pics for you when you upload and reduce size considerably. Just tried the pic that you sent me and it uploads just fine so give it another shot before going the photobucket route.

Nik, I am struggling with pictures as well. I have all my photos saved to imgur but I cannot figure out how to load from there or directly from the iPhoto portion of my files. I don't understand the difference between "media" and just loading a picture or two on with a thread or thread response. I know I used to be able to do. I have all my pictures from Manny's and cannot seem to do anything with them.

To be honest I don't use imgur but if it's like most image sharing sites you need to embed the direct link to the image rather than the img page. It's the link that ends with a.png or.jpg extension. You can also embed BBcode links directly as long as they point to the actual image.
