I was at Gateway Chevrolet to get a repair done on a tire and stopped by the sales area as I usually would to say hello to Owais. I was informed that he was no longer with Gateway. I reached out to him personally and found out he was let go through a new management restructuring. Sad to hear, he was always very professional and I have nothing but good things to say about him. Hope he lands on his feet.

That is disappointing news. He worked hard to help the C7 group even if they did not buy the car from him. He was a class act.

I agree that I hope he lands on his feet with a new and better position.

Saw your car yesterday but did not realize it was yours. Would have liked to said hello.

That is very unfortunate, he seemed to more then willing to go out of his way to help anyone on the forum. I too hope he finds his way back and in a better position then before. Why would you get rid of one of the likely the best Corvette salesman in Eastern Canada?

And I saw yours, but I don't think you were around it... next time, for sure.

That's the 64K question. He was one the best salespersons I have ever dealt with and someone who obviously has natural people ability... and I say this having been a financial saleperson myself earlier in my career.

That explains a lot. I recently secured the last 2016 Z51 allotment he currently had. At least I hope I did. Gave Owais/Gateway a deposit and then communication ceased. I thought it was odd as forum members spoke quite highly of him and he always seemed to be prompt with his postings/responses. This forum is the primary reason why I reached out to him in the first place to handle my order. I hope things truly do work out for him! I guess it is now time to pickup the phone and call the dealer!

Owais is a straight up guy. This news is unfortunate for those wanting to purchase a new C7 in the Brampton area. I am sure there are capable sales people but Owais is top drawer. He was pleased to speak with you even when he knew there was no sale coming to his credit.

Let's hope he's snapped up buy a dealer who will appreciate him.

I was just there this morning dropping off my C7, and also went up to the sales area I knew where they had moved him to when George the Sales Manager left a few months ago. And there was another name tag on the desk. So went up asked the receptionist and she said he had left.

I'm very disappointed, since I was the one who got Owais to join the forum in the first place since he was doing such a good job keeping me informed and up to date. I knew he could give a lot more Vette buyers a much better experience then some of the horror stories we've all heard about! My guess is that either the new management team has a different focus or there was some chemistry that didn't work. Either way it is unfortunate for us Vette owners.

Owais, I wish you the best and let us know where you land, especially if your at a Chevy dealer selling Vettes!

Just as a follow up to my previous post on this thread. I contacted Gateway and spoke with John Reid the General Manager. Most of the conversation revolved around my order but in a follow up e-mail he stated:

"On another note I would like to assure all the members of the Corvette Forum that we are committed to supplying them with the best possible experience from both a sales and service point of view and although we had to change the course with regards to Owais we will continue to participate on the Forum.

Thank you again.

Sincerely
John Reid
General Manager
Gateway Chevrolet & Markville Chevrolet"

I have had no previous experience with Gateway with the exception of my 2016 factory order. What limited exposure I have had in dealing with Mr. Reid, he has been both responsive and professional. It is truly unfortunate that Owais is no longer part of the Gateway organization but I suspect it is a bell that most likely won't be un-rung for reasons that we as customers will never really know. I sincerely hope that Owais lands in a place that gives him everything that he hopes for and deserves. Relative to Gateway I am inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. Time will tell if the talk matches the actions.

This is bad news; Owais was tremendous and it seems he is held in very high regard by all here.

On another note what would you all suggest? I originally ordered from Dueck Richmond in BC a 2015 on July 9, 2014. Nothing happened and I they were lying to me directly, so I dropped my order.

I joined this forum, discovered Owais, and placed my new order through him January 21, 2015 for one of the two new 2015 guaranteed allotments he posted here.

My z51 did not get picked up.

I rolled over my 2015 order to a MY2016 with Owais in early May 2015; the order was placed and Owais advised I would likely receive it by summer/fall 2015. There is a thread where someone asked him why the 4 2016 allotments will be delivered spring/summer 2016 and even there Owais stated they will receive some 2016's in this summer due to rollovers...he stated all orders were picked up except 1 z51. I was that one he referred to.

John Reid is now telling me as of today that I will NOT get by summer/fall 2015 but rather 2016 spring/summer

Needles to say, I am extremely frustrated. Any suggestions or leads on guaranteed allotments for MY2016? I'm probably behind the 8-ball now. Dueck clearly lied to me about their allocation. Owais was the only dealer I trusted.

My pursuit of a 2015 Z06 began last September. In the course of it I encountered two very helpful GM dealership sales people. I would have ordered from Denis Frehlich at Edmonton Motors, Edmonton, but he had no near term allocation. Mike Boneschansker of Barry Hudson Chevrolet in Listowel was instrumental in getting my Z06, built last week in Bowling Green.

Many do not realize just how much Owais would go out of his way to assist. When I first placed my down payment for a C7 last July, that guy, knowing full well that he would not benefit or make money as I was with a different dealership, spent countless e-mails and pm's helping me along to understand my purchase. There is no doubt I wouldn't have my Z06 today but for his thoughts and knowledge on the order process. Kudos and hope to see you one day Owais so I can thank you in person!

I called Owais this morning because my twp is June 1 and when I spoke to him a couple of weeks back he said he would keep me informed of any changes to the dates mentioned, was told he no longer worked there and when I explained the situation was told a manger has now taken over my account, and as was stated by ALLFLASH since last August many, texts and emails and phone calls, has me getting a z06, he told me he is looking for a job close to home, I'm positive he won't be jobless for long as per our conversation Good luck Owais

A dealer lied to you? Wow, that must be a first!
But seriously, have you tried Sherwood?

We waited for 10 months for our 2014, which came in as a 2015 here in BC.
Or buy used from the USA. There appear to be tons for sale.

Glad to see someone went to the dealership and general manager at Gateway. Who knows what went on at the dealership, I have heard stories that the dealerships fire the bottom one or two guys every once in a while to keep the rest on their toes. Most dealerships have a revolving door it seems. Selling is not an easy profession.

I bought mine thru Wilson Niblett in Toronto, in March 2014 ordered a 2015 expecting it in March/April 2015. In May they got me an allocation for a 2014 , received in July last year including the ZF1 option (which was only being offered in the U.S for 2014) and the CF roof which was on constraint. I had some execs at GM on my side though, the dealership had no leverage with Bowling Green or GM at all. The dealerships are pretty much are beholden to GM and take what they get.
