Hi Everyone,

Just joined the forum a couple of days ago and thought I would introduce myself. I'm Charlie and live in Belleville Ontario. Pick up a 1999 magnetic Red C5, 6 speed coupe last Sept. with only 64K on the clock. I'm the 5th owner and the car is in almost perfect shape. Previous owner/owners have put Z06 rims and exhaust on the car. The car is nearly fully optioned and includes the two factory roofs. I have owned two previous corvettes a 1994 coupe and a new 2004 Z06. Interesting this current car was originally delivered to Wilson-Niblett in Richmond hill which is where I bought the last two corvettes.
I'm interested in meeting up with other members in the eastern Ontario area. Also wondering if anyone can recommend a good dealership or shop in this area for service on this baby.
Thanks
Charlie

Riley P,

Thanks for the welcome.
The main differences between the 1999 coupe 6 speed and the 2004 Z06 are performance , ride and storage. The ride in the Z06 was a little harsher because of the suspension and of course HP; 345HP vs 405HP with a weight difference of 3074 for the Z06 and the heavier 1999 coupe at 3230. While at the Corvette Museum a company was their that promised 20 more HP at the rear wheels . After the Dyno before and after the new air intake was install I did get exactly 20 HP at the rear wheels. So the Z06 was really putting out a little more that 425HP at the crank. The 1999 has tons more storage in it. Had the car for many years and loved it but when I sold our house and moved full time onto a our boat I had to down size on some of my four cars so the Vette went.
As far as the best car I have ever owned for performance and handling it would have to be my 2011 CTS V 2 door coupe. In stock form @ 556 HP it was really fast and with a few mods I made it was putting out 605 HP. No car every beat me in Toronto. This was unbelievable considering the car weight over 4000 LBs. The problem was I was spending over $800.00 in fuel a month to run the car. It got 6 MPG in the city and 10 MPG on the highway. Part of that was my lead foot .
1999 is just a nice weekend cruiser which I'm really enjoying. I now feel I have all modes of transportation covered with the 1999 Vette my Toyota Prius and my 4 wheel drive Suburban. I drive in excess of 100K Km per year as I drive Cancer patients to there appointment at any hospital they need to go to in Ontario. This is mainly in the Prius so I needed something else to drive that was fun.
Hope the answered your question.

Charlie
