Is it OK to leave key in car and lock via MyChevrolet app?

A: Why would you want to?
B: I'm not sure the car will lock if the key is in the car. I know it chimes (honks?) if you do leave it in the car.
C: No it's not OK. Someone could "pull down your window with tape" (if it works on the C8) and steal your car.

Hate bringing the key with me inside of the gym. If I leave the key inside and lock it via the app, the doors will not open.

At the gym it is most likely safer locked in you vehicle with scumbag thieves nowadays.

I lock my FOB (key) in my other vehicle on occasions, like concerts and places were I just don't want to have my keys with me. I lock it via the door lock keypad. No way back in unless you know the code.

I the case of the C8, the key will go into sleep mode within a few minutes and no one could use any electronic means to steal it anyway. The car will not even start even if the key is in the cup holder after the key goes into sleep/hibernation mode.

I would suggest if you do leave in the vehicle that you hide it well inside the cabin or frunk or trunk.

The C8 may have a sleep feature after a set time as some Euro cars have, I just don't know for sure.
It is not documented, but you can test it. Leave the key in the car with doors unlocked for around 15-20 minutes or so (I have not tested the duration to determine the exact timing of sleep). Try and start the car and it will say "missing key" or something to effect. Pickup the key or move it enough to awaken the key and it will start.

My findings where also backed up by the instructors at Ron Fellows driving school. They also mentioned it is class the key does go into sleep mode and the car cannot see the FOB until you physically move the key, such as the motion of picking it up or normal handling of the FOB.

if the key is in a faraday pouch ; it can be inside the car or in the frunk.
Faraday pouch would be a bonus. I have an extra that I will keep in the car. Good idea to keep the car secure before sleep mode in the rare instance that I may leave it in the car.
