INTERNAL filter Transmission service

This thread is not about the DCT external filter service which is usually done at 12000 kms. My deal just told me that at 3yr mark regardless of mileage there is an INTERNAL filter service that is going to cost me $2K.

Can anyone confirm if this is the case and it the price is right?

Your dealer is either incompetent or scamming you. There is no recommended service interval for the internal filter, and the 3 year service is just a simple drain and refill of the DCT fluid. Takes between 9 and 10 liters. If you like the dealer otherwise, ask them to show you written documentation from GM that the internal filter needs to be changed at 3 years. Otherwise find a new dealer.

Go to another dealer. I feel they are lying to you or they misunderstood GM''s instructions. It's the Canister filter that needs it at 3 years.
"(4) Or every three years, whichever comes first. If the vehicle mileage is near the canister filter replacement interval, replace the fluid and filter."

I had the canister filter replaced and fluid topped up a few weeks ago by the Milton ON dealer (Wallace). The bill came to $1052, including HST. The bulk of it was 3.2 hours book rate, at $185/hr, and $292 for the filter itself, $60 for a liter of fluid. Then they tack on shop charges and disposal fee.

Hmm… something not quite right by the sound of it for sure. Is it not understanding the GM requirements which is disconcerting to begin with or is it something more nefarious ? Second opinion would be in order I would suggest.

As I said before, ask them to show it to you IN WRITING.

My C8 is serviced by Criswell Chevrolet, home of Mike Furman, who I suspect you're all familiar with even though in the US and not Canada. They have one of the most experienced Corvette techs in our country, and service more C8s in a month than most dealers do in a year. They did NOT replace the internal filter during my 3 year drain and fill. I trust Criswell to know what they're doing.

That’s not a service, that’s a car payment in disguise. GM really out here playing DLC with maintenance.

12 litres of Amsoil DCT fluid 300.00 ( commercial discount price ), 1 OEM filter kit from GM dealer in North bay 160.00 . A morning in the shop working on the car , priceless.
