Imagine the huff it would have created if MC has nixed the deal. DS would be screaming and voting for independence. Not that she won't anyway despite her trying to do some kind of fence balancing. If Alnerta doesn't want to sell it why doesn't the govn say so?Yes. Interesting, but not something most of us in the west at least haven't been discussing. We agree. Why should we build another pipeline into the US so Trump can buy our oil at his deeply discounted rate so he can sell US and Venezuelan oil at market value....I'm really hoping that Carney assesses the lack of true value in shipping more oil to the US, especially as we would just be placing more of our dependence on the US market. How's that working out for us lately? If we're going to build another pipeline it should be to the coast so we can also sell our oil overseas at fair market value, which tends to run about $15.00 per barrel more than the US pays us. For those that don't have a calculator or are mathematically compromised, that's $60 Million PER DAY we are not collecting. You might be thinking "yeah... Alberta would love that", but Alberta sends $19.2 Billion per year from our oil sales alone straight into federal coffers so this is a win/win for Canada and economic diversification.
Sadly this is part of the polical games. 0 benefit to Canadians who voted them in.Imagine the huff it would have created if MC has nixed the deal. DS would be screaming and voting for independence. I wonder if there would ever come a day when there will be enough pipelines that AB will say - stop the approvals, we just don't have enough oil!
Looks like MC is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't.
Yes. There will come a day when Alberta doesn't have enough oil. Right now that is approx. 140 years in the future but as we are discovering new reserves every day, that will like be extended. Alberta no issue at all with selling more oil. If you'd read all of my post, you'd have noticed that the pipeline to the coast would have given Canada diversification away from the US and a more significant bump into Canada's GDP. So my argument was approve the pipeline to the coast instead of another one to the US. Perhaps if your provincial government policies to maintain higher wages, cheaper housing. cheaper groceries, cheaper transportation, cheaper taxes, cheaper childcare and God knows what else weren't in place, you might understand that the additional $60 million per day that oil sales would bring in not only benefits Alberta but the rest of Canada, including Quebec. And your province would benefit as well as Canada could likely up the $16 billion per year you receive for being on the 'have not' province list.Imagine the huff it would have created if MC has nixed the deal. I'm all for pipelines to the coasts. BC is a lot closer and therefor much less expensive. Naturally there are all the usual hiccups of regulatory and native approvals as well as who pays for it.Yes. Further, I am not a DS fan. Never have been and I am also not a separatist supporter. The 25% here that are, are the ones only interested in Alberta prospering, not the rest of Canada. Much like your separatist population whose main interest is your language preservation. And yes. Much like every government since the beginning of time, they can't please everyone all of the time.
True that but I doubt it will happen. The MOU that Carney signed regarding the line to the west coast appears to be getting moldy in a mop closet somewhere. An approval for it would go a long way towards reducing the separatist popularity out here. Unfortunately dimwittedness is a prerequisite for a political career pretty much everywhere.I'm all for pipelines to the coasts. BC is a lot closer and therefor much less expensive. Whatt i would like to see is one to the east coast. Embridge currently goes through the US to get to ONT. Great priority should be given to going over Lake Superior to keep the oil in Canada. Just need one of the many idiots in Washington to throw a hissy fit and cut the suppy to ONT.
Then QC needs to be brought in line to go through there to NB or NS. They are just about all political dimwits here. Political points count more than economical viability.
Sure there are hoops to jump through. Just get it done!
Don't fret . You watch when enough big checks get written, lol. We can afford it apparently. Once that happens it should only be another 15 years or so before any oil flows !True that but I doubt it will happen. How many buy into the foreign propaganda which is made to look like it's from a domestic source ? Too many I suspect.
