Yesterday I found my 85 C4 started idling up and down. It still seemed to run fine when cruising, but then when I was going slow (about 30 km/hr) due to being on gravel, it stalled. I tried to restart it and initially it would not fire up. After sitting for about 30 seconds to a minute, she fire back up and took me home fine. Any ideas on where I would start to look for the problem? Could this possibly be the IAC valve acting up?

I also actually noticed that my alternator was only putting out voltage in the low to mid 12's when it stalled out idling down the gravel road.

hello,
my first post here from the Hudson Valley USA - one of the best things I did to improve starting & performance on my 88 cpe was to replace the original fuel pump with a new unit made in Canada sold on Amazon. I'd start there and then also replace the in-line filter on the frame rail - then see where it's at. TY

I had an 87 C4, my throttle body one of the 4 attaching bolts to the intake manifold was loose, after securing it the issue went away. I was having the same issue stalling when coming to a stop except my would restart right away. Check for possible vacuum leak. Just an idea. Good luck
