I finally gave in...

@Black 03 Z06 Haha yes...The potholes are massive and everywhere...

@ddgermann So I was contemplating for a long time but when I decided to finally do it, I didn't make any appointment lol...Just drove to the tire shop...I actually knew that if I wanted to do it, Saturday was perhaps my last opportunity because the temperature was +7 hence I could risk driving on the Michelin Pilot Super Sports without damaging them...So when I arrived at the facility, initially they told me they'll do a staggered setup i.e. 18 fronts and 19 rears...However, when they saw the massive front brake caliper, it could have been either 19 all around, 19 fronts and 20 rears or 20 all around...They didn't have any relevant 19's in stock...Hence we went for the following setup:

BF Goodrich Front Winter Tires - 245/35ZR20 95W
Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II Rear Tires - 275/35 R20 102V XL

Yes, I wanted to have all 4 same brand tires but unfortunately this was so last minute that this was the best that was possible. Good thing is, I have the Pirelli's in the rear. Also, the owner of the shop gave me additional discounts on the rims (which are fantastic). I drove in the rain yesterday and it was pretty good.

Today I drove around a 100km's in around 0 degrees and so far so good. The ride somehow feels much softer i.e. you dont feel the bumps as much...I was on the DVP which has a few tunnels and everytime I would reduce my speed, shift into lower gears and accelerate through the tunnels haha...Epic fun...

@SN-III Yes...I'll take pictures regularly and post over here :) I want to come for the Meet in the Middle event but I am unsure whether I'll be able to take time off work at that time...Hopefully I can :) I would love to meet you guys...

@lupo I saw pics of your Z06...It looks epic...Let's meetup in Spring/Summer sometime...Are you in the GTA or within the downtown core?

Sounds like you are all set for winter fun. Interesting tire combination. Glad it worked out good.

Hope to see you in Winnipeg at MITM Karam.

Sure make the rest of us feel bad. Nice Eric.

It’s a “Frightening Leonardo DiCaprio Global Warming Day” in Calgary Today - We are so fortunate to have finally had someone tell us what in hell is going on when our sky is like this ...
"It (an effect of global warming) was scary, I've never experienced something so firsthand that was so dramatic." DiCaprio (Dec 2015) ... ya us too with his Variety interview !

Winter road "pebbles" still make a Chinook no day for a Corvette though ....

I totally understand not wanting to pay for something that sits 5-6 months a year, but honestly I really don't see the point of driving a Vette in the winter. I've always found myself with enough money to buy a more practical, and a lot more fun, winter vehicle. To me a Vette should only be driven when the windows can be down all the way, and the top in the rear hatch where it belongs, but I commend you for turning your Vette into a true, year round daily driver, if that's what you want.

@Dub As far as daily driving is concerned, factually speaking, I don't even need a car...I live in downtown Toronto and my work is 15 mins walk from my place...Combine this to the fact that the road conditions in downtown are atrocious and parking is insanely expensive, people often wonder why I even have a car, let alone a Corvette...But the thing is, I love cars...I fell in love with the Corvette ZR1 when I watched season 12, Episode 2 of Top Gear back in 2008:

I was in high school at that time. In 2009, I flew all the way from Pakistan to Montreal, Canada to study at McGill. In 2011, I went to the Montreal Auto show and while the Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, Porsche's, Nissan GTR's and even Lotus's were all fenced up, the Corvette ZR1 was available for anyone to see, touch and sit. It gave me the belief that if I work hard and keep at it, maybe one day I'll get to enjoy it (sense of attainability for common people). I sat in the ZR1 and thought to myself "What if I have something like this..."

Now that I have the Z06, every time I get behind the wheel I still remember that moment and it brings a smile to my face. Driving it/enjoying it is a privilege. And if I have it, I want to enjoy it to the max.

In Toronto's winter, we get many days where it's cold but there is no snow/ice on the road. That's the time when I'll be taking it out. Here's a view outside my office window this noon and there are many winter days like this (It did snow later in the evening though):

@Riley P I'll be posting pics regularly (hopefully) :)

Karam. That is so kewl..That is the reason we have a forum. To hear and enjoy stories like yours, like mine, and like every other member here.... Hoorah!..... :Cheers2:

After 3 months in storage, I finally gave in...In these 3 months, every-time I used to go to my underground parking and see the Corvette parked, I wondered why I am paying for something which I don't even use for 5 to 6 months...I contemplated the idea of putting winter tires and rims on but decided many times to not go ahead with it...Until this Saturday, I finally gave in...Called the insurance company to put back full coverage, drove the car to a tire shop and put winter tires/rims on...What a feeling to hear and feel the beast again...Now, I won't be driving in snow/ice conditions, however I live in Toronto and there are many days during the winter where the roads are clear i.e. no snow or ice but the temperatures are sub zero...That's when I'll take the Z06 out...Maybe I'll finally start enjoying the winter now ;) Life is short, enjoy it :)

My thoughts exactly. I fitted 4 19" knock off wheels and bought some Corvette stickers from ebay.....you'd never know :) Fitted 285/35/19 Nokian Hakkappelitta studded snow tires....the car is brilliant in snow and ice. Give it a try. Just power wash it every few days for your sanity. I also highly recommend a couple oil pan heating pads. I have a 1000W and a 150W stuck to the bottom of the car. They work great. Even in -30C out here in Saskatchewan the car is fully warmed up within minutes. Have fun!!!!

The point? The point is to enjoy the car all year round. It's not about having a more capable winter vehicle to drive as an alternative. The vehicle pictured below is a 400hp AWD winter beast. Which car would I prefer to drive to work? That's a rhetorical question.

I had an 06 version of the STI. It was most fun I’ve ever had in the snow. All together a different animal though. 2 different cars that can’t be compared in winter conditions. I’d take that over my C6 in the snow any day. And be having more fun too !! It’s a given.

Looking good Karam.... We had great weather here today and I went out with 6 Ferraris and a Porsche. Put on over 300 kms it was a blast. One issue was had on the way back - The Ferrari 308 developed a rad leak abt 100 kms out of Vancouver. We were able to keep it supplied with water abt every 20kms and it made it back fine. Nice to see the weather improving out here.

That's fantastic. Which Ferrari's and Porsche? Pics? I have heard so much about the scenic roads around Vancouver, I would love to visit...
