HTC roof issue

There is no C8 transmission problems, or I would have bought the manual transmission version. ;)
Are you serious! First off C8 corvette only comes automatic. Read the sites regarding the importance of having the trans filter and fluid changed at 7500 miles @ about $2,000.00. Read the blogs of those who had to have their C8 towed.

The C8 is so great that there are very little problem/solution threads on this forum, this is why most threads are about PPF/ceramic coating, extended warranties, maintenance plans, voiding of warranties and just random unrelated comments now that everyone who was ready to buy one, did.
You’re either naive or just ill informed, read all the blogs not just the ones you choose too.

Take note of the wink at the end of @HappyCamper’s post……

You are way too invested in the Internet. EVERY CAR IN THE WORLD has a certain % of issues. A tiny percentage of C8's have DCT issues. Also, please be nice.

Hello Swaite, welcome to CCF!

Blogs, Smogs, Here in Canada we change our DTC filter at 12000km. and we get it done free of charge. :canada: (this little winking guy means I am joking);)

All humour aside Swaite, there is no reason that you need to change all the transmission fluid at 12000km, it is only a top up of displaced fluid from the DTC filter removal. Full transmission fluid change is not required until 36000km.
I am sure there is a BLOG somewhere on the internet that states this. Do you actually own a C8 or are you just C8 bashing for the heck of it?

I have a 2021 HTC and on the passenger side the wire cable snapped so the top will not close properly. You can see it snapped apart where it was spot welded. It looks like a real easy fix. Anyone else have this happen?
Damn, I hope I escape this as my 3 years is up this past Oct.: 2022 HTC , but, got it in Oct. 2021. I guess I would have to pay??

This has happened quite often to others....I too cross my fingers every time I function the roof as it seems to be just a matter of time from all the reading I've done....The US Corvette Forum, lots of posts about this issue as well.....GM is aware of the issue since the C8 was released and have done nothing about it to fix the problem. If this happens (hopefully when car is under warranty), all GM does is replace the cable using the exact same type that was previously installed, so I'm thinking it will also break after so many functions of the roof, but only the next time it does, it will cost the Owner to pay for this repair, which is total BS....Why wouldn't GM install a more durable cable to ensure it doesn't happen going forward....

when owning an HTC C8 Corvette it’s necessary to have Zip ties with you inorder to close the top. I feel for a woman or anyone who has (0) mechanical ability in order to close the top in rain.

Nobody should have to deal with this period.....GM needs to be better and show they actually care about their customers and quality of their products...Pretty easy Design Change to fix it and issue an Bulletin for all HTC owners to bring in to your dealer at your own convenience for cable replacements..

Has any one ever had a cable rebuilt by a shop that does cable repairs like a motor cycle shop, biclcle shop or a convertible shop. Would some type of lubrication of the cable and or springs help. If needed what is the part number to replace the top cable
thanks Bill
