That's the way I feel about our Stingray. Who needs ZR1? lol
For the track, perhaps. Not for the street. Unless you want to just stare at it.

Do you have the coupe or the HTC? I was actually looking at the 992.2 Carrera T but I cant justify the price and downgrade on performance. I also dont want to play the Porsche game where the local Porsche dealer is asking for a mandatory 30k options if I want to order one. After test driving the 992.1 Carrera S, the only three things I found that it does better than my z06 are steering feel, low end torque and feeling of lightness.
You mentioned you have yet to take your Z over 6k rpm. You see, to me, that is one of "problem" of the Z. You really need to get on it fully feel the car. Its an exercise in self-control lol...
After some thoughts, I will most likely trading in my HTC for a coupe next year instead of an E-Ray and do some weight reduction mods. I have a theory that the HTC's weight is exaggerating the lack of low end torque of the Z.

Yeah. Agreed on Porsche games...I was lucky getting an "In" with the dealer I ordered my 992T from but at the end of the day it lacks soul.
I've had a number of C8 Stingrays and thought I'd be happy with an Eray but I would miss this harmony of sound. This car just sounds nuts as it is.
I owned a '24 Z06 HTC with the Z07 package for sixteen months, coming from a Porsche background. I initially loved its noise, power delivery, and stunning look (mine was orange with the CF package). However, its livability was hampered by its constant, aggressive driving characteristics and loud nature—it felt like it was at 110% all the time. While driving it was exhilarating, after a day, I was ready to park it for a week. The other major drawback was the substantial depreciation: almost $100,000 over 10,000 km.
Fortunately, I managed to get out of it with "only" a $55,000 loss and replaced it with a 911 Turbo S. This car suits my preferences as a driver and owner much better. I enjoy driving the Turbo S every day. I feel it's actually quicker than the Z06, but more importantly, it can be calm and composed when necessary, yet exciting when I want it to be.

Sounds like you would have been better off with the Eray or maybe even the Stingray.
I'm surprised you lost that much. Were you in a rush to sell?
Not in a huge rush 2 months to get it done. But prices went from $100K loss to $55K loss. So I was able to get the 911 TTS at a better price and the right spec. So ended up pulling the trigger with winter coming it was not going to get any better.

@EMMDEE I took a bit of a loss on my Carrera T as I sold it less than a year into it but worthwhile as I made up for it since. You'll drive the Turbo S with little to no depreciation really as they hold value tremendously. Harder to move when you want to sell it but it will sell.
I only jumped at this Z06 because it was below $150k for a 3k km car and zero luxury tax and I used a tax credit I had with my dealership. I feel I'm ahead of the Z06 bunch at the moment considering it was a $169k sticker car!
But having read numerous posts ad nauseum about whether to go E-Ray or Z06, I'll admit I was very much an E-Ray fan when it was announced and thought it would be the car for me. However, owning the Z06 as a weekend/drive to the cottage toy I'm more than happy forgoing the torque as I wanted a car that is an event....a symphony of ridiculous sound and something that feels different (Stiff) and audible to the C8 Stingrays I've owned in the past. The bark....the shaking of the car....its not something you get in an E-Ray or Stingray. Those cars are definitely more civilized and my thoughts were I can always get one of those in the future when I turn 60 (haha...only bugging. I'm only 49 for less than a year so getting there).
In the current market of sportscars and supercars the 458 and Z06 remain the last bastion of Naturally Aspirated screamers and I wanted to be apart of that ownership before everything (even the 911s are now turbo'd) goes some version of assist.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. the Z06 is amazing and I am very glad I got the chance to own one.
I also wanted a 458 but ended up with a GT4RS, 50000 cheaper, ( I got a 2023 with 450km’s on it )ten years newer , revs to 9000, bullet proof and track ready. The car is a beast! But as you say they are probably one of the last NA cars left. It is a shame for sure . I have never driven a Z06 but they are cool for sure and quite capable as well as I have been passed by a few a Mosport, would be my go to vette if I were to sell the HTC C8.
I never have it in auto. I haven't noticed when it drops down if I haven't done it myself.
