Thanks Denis for that info. One minor note, that comapring strictly apples versus apples on an official GM recent document (the Z06 Build and Price), the exact weight increase for the HTC over the coupe is 99 pounds. Therefore the above chart’s noted 34 extra pound weight for the HTC is different options, e.g., Z07 and perhaps other components.

Hey John, the information above was compiled from Car and Driver Instrumented Testing of 4 Corvettes, so the weights and times represent actual 4 corvettes in ready to drive state that they tested and not GM listed weights.

34 pounds difference when you have 670+ HP in the real world doesn’t mean a thing.
I know guys that spend thousands on carbon drive shafts, lighten flywheels, lighter rotors, light weight wheels, etc… then slam cheese burgers and wonder why the car is no faster. Also 99% of drivers will drive their cars at about 70-80% of the cars ability. So 34lbs @ 70% is, in real life, only more like 22-23 lbs. so even if all of it is “unsprung” weight is doesn’t make any real difference. Finally when you look at most of those metrics provided the differences are very thin.

what we are missing now is a non-z51 base coupe and convertible results. I suspect there is a reason why those cars where not provided to Car and Driver as the numbers may not live up to the hype.
Or may perform better than anticipated and drive sales in the opposite direction and away from the Z51? 😀

My 0-60 times have been every bit as good as the Z51.
The smiles on me and my wife's faces are just as big.
The compliments we get are just as nice.
IMO the Z51 is not worth the money it costs (Bang for the buck).
