Born to Be Wild

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way

At some point this mess we are currently living in and with has to come to an end. There has to be hope in the future that we can get out, meet people again, travel to see new things and places. Without plans we would starve for a future. Blanketed by winter there is not much to do but plan and hope. :snowplough:

So if you could indeed "Get your motor runnin, Head out on the highway", where would you go?

Fortunate that I got to travel with work, been to every province in Canada but one and that would be my destination of choice, Newfoundland. Their tourism ads are so enticing. The ocean has always been a huge attraction for me. I think it is surrounded!

Closer to home I would like to visit more of Northern Ontario and travel the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Have for years been fascinated by the Great Lakes Freighters and that is a great place to see them.

I love paper maps, I have been looking!

So what is your destination, what excites you about it. We want to know!

For me, naturally I would explore more of the Island of Newfoundland. But I would really love to take the ferry over to France for a weekend trip with a few Corvette friends. I think it is only about 90 minutes to get there.

Newfoundland for my spouse and I as well. Shortly after we were married some 33 years ago, we did my dream motorcycle trip across Canada to the Maritimes then back to Edmonton via the Northern States. I only had a month off work so regrettably couldn’t go to Nfld since it required an extra week including the ferries. Our trip emphasized what a great country we have, with beautiful scenery and ++++ friendly people everywhere we went and especially the Maritimes. I know Nfld will be the long-awaited “icing on the Canadian cake”.

Errrrr.... Have to assume Saint Pierre and Miquelon is your "France" destination Fred. Have never been but would like to visit there as well. Bring back a bottle of Mariner for me.

And here I thought it was the new high speed ferry.

Another good destination Eric and just what is Mariner?

lol.... When we were younger on the east coast, a buddy of mine was chief engineer on an Exxon oil tanker that made stops in Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Mariner is much like Everclear (190 proof clear grain alcohol) except a few points stronger. He would bring back large quantities and we would use it to fortify our drink of choice. Also made good paint thinner.... lol...

That will be a weekend good trip Fred...I'm in...just got to get my Google Translate all shined up.

I think the car ferry is up and running now to, so that might make it a little easier to get there.

Work on that hydroplane and you can just tow Fred's car and avoid the ferry cost..

First I wanna visit the kids/grandkidlets in Summerland & Edmonton.
The dream would be a trip across Canada, maybe to Newfoundland/Labrador to see the sights and catch-up with Fred, Murray and all those other Easterners!

If anyone is coming this way just look me up..i can provide lodging and custom tours if required.
Hoping to get a Corvette out to Fredericton for Summer 2023. Delayed for 2022 as our driveway and yard needs doing to complete our build - all I know based from last Summer is we will get it on a Tuesday … nothing goes fast. 😂

For several years now I have wanted to drive from one coast to the other. In a meandering kind of way, in order to see this great county. Probably take a few weeks to do it- drive a few hours each day and see the sights, eat the local food. Would love to take the Corvette, but not sure it's the best car for the trip- especially if we pick up souvenirs along the way

I am travelling the Country by road on various occasions.
Have a lot more of it in the next 3-4 years. Change the route every time,
get to know and understand in-person more about people and places.May need to include a few USA destinations as well.
I don't see anybody meantion Route 66. It is a long road which I have done the whole 3940 kilometres, but in five different trips. I recommend nearly all of it except the California section which does not have much history left. Here I am at midpoint in Adrian, Texas. GO 4 IT!

Coming from T.B., you can go east one month and then drop the souvenirs off on your way back home to start the western trip. You can always stop by here as well as long as we are around. Off to Kingston in June and if things quiet down may do the Blueridge parkway late Aug/Sep/Oct
