Sounds pretty sexy ! ..... So GM creates this awesome new imagining of the C8 ..... to get the last ounce of flesh out of this generation .... it will probably be tons of flesh ..... cuz this thing is sweet ..... however .... they spent something like a billion dollars developing this new engine ..... and they ... imo ... dropped the ball on that little piece of plastic that covers the engine .... the only thing I dont care for on this GS .... hopefully it looks better in person ... or someone comes up with an aftermarket alternative ... I actually think the LT2 looks better .....
Don't tell anyone Sir T, but would it make you feel any better if I told you that the engine cover will also come in blue?
Or should we make arrangements to get yours painted Torch Red?

Well Sir S ...... On my C8 I ordered the engine cover in red ..... its actually edge red ... to match the valve covers ... somebody was using their brains when they developed that .....
Below is a pic of my actual engine bay ( which of course everyone knows the look of that ) .... and the new Grand Sport engine cover .....
I dont know what they were thinking when designing that .... Looks like they picked it up at the dollar store and slapped the cross flags on it
The last thing I wanna do is hate on anything to do with this car cuz its a work of art .... except of course well you know ....
Let me start this off by saying for all the GM lurkers out there that we love our cars and the product. However we all know
as Josh Holder said this past week in Nevada and previous chief engineers that I have personally met have said it's all
about profit. It comes down to $dollars$. A big deal is made about landing a GM contract, but they want to pay suppliers
10 cents on the dollar to what they charge for items. In 2020 my Edge Red engine cover on my coupe cost $660, that same
piece of plastic and foam now costs $745 in the 2026's. Do you think GM is paying the supplier much over $50 for it?
They have a history of driving suppliers like the ones that produced Carbon Fiber in the past in bankruptcy because
what they paid them under contract was one tenth of what GM charged for the option and they lost money.
Why else would the factory that produced the edge red brake calipers burn down?
Sounds like they couldn't afford a fire protection system or fire extinguisher for that matter.
GM make a ton of money on these options, so you might be best to skip the engine cover
option and modify the stock one that comes with the car if grey like our C8's were on the coupe engines.
What GM needs to learn is to not start producing cars until all of the options and colours are available for each model
so the options that you do want are available.

Speaking of engine covers, I bought this on eBay for $150 shipped to my house. GM wanted nearly $1,000!

With all this discussion on the beauty (or lack thereof) of engine bay covers, I better open mine up to see what colour it is.

My cover is flat black and doesn't show the dust. lol. I'm OK with that.
