Owners Manual ! Calls for oil at 12,000 km or one year, which ever comes first. I did an oil change at 5,000 to get out the break in oil out and the original filter. TX service between 11,500 and 12,500 . Very important. The first two oil changes and TX service are included in the purchase price. When should the first oil change and transmission fluid filter be done I've heard everything from $5, 000 to 10,000 does anybody know what the average should be?
From the manual….Note that the oil change is NOT mileage based. And not time-based unless you drive the car very little. You should change the oil and filter when the OLM tells you to, which will be a maximum of 12 months or 7500 miles, but may be sooner than that. The Oil Life Monitor will start nagging you when it gets down to 20%, but you can go to near 0% and still be good.
And for the DCT filter, note that it is mandatory to change it between 7000 and 8000 miles ( or 11,500KM and 12,500KM) to maintain the warranty on the DCT. Even if you change it earlier than that, GM says you have to change it again within than range.
Not sure about the rules in Canada, but in the US, for 2025 MY cars, GM will only pay for the DCT filter change if it's within that range.

not sure why anyone would listen to anyone other than what's stated in the Owner's Manual??When should the first oil change and transmission fluid filter be done I've heard everything from $5, 000 to 10,000 does anybody know what the average should be?
If the OLM gets near zero before 7500, you still need to change it. The text above is just one example of how confusing the C8's owner's manual is.From the manual….
Additional Required Services – Normal
Service
Every 12 000 km (7,500 mi)
. Check engine oil level and oil
life percentage. If needed, change engine
oil and filter, and reset oil life system. Or
when the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
message displays, have the engine oil and
filter changed within the next 1 000 km
(600 mi). If driven under the best
conditions, the engine oil life system may
not indicate the need for vehicle service
for up to a year. The engine oil and filter
must be changed at least once a year and
the oil life system must be reset. Your
trained dealer technician can perform this
work. If the engine oil life system is reset
accidentally, service the vehicle within
5 000 km (3,000 mi) since the last service.
Reset the oil life system when the oil is
changed.
It should be obvious to most that 12,000 km or once a year are the maximum period allowed. The manual actually does make this quite clear. If the OLM gets near zero before 7500, you still need to change it. The text above is just one example of how confusing the C8's owner's manual is.
Perhaps you could consider a different service provider. If one is available in your area. I had a claim denied for a failed transmission which was less than 90 days over the warranty period . I feel your pain and frustration .Interesting, since I just paid for my second *included* oil change, out of pocket, because I was a few kilometers past the mileage limit.
I have no pain or frustration, but thanks.Perhaps you could consider a different service provider. If one is available in your area. I had a claim denied for a failed transmission which was less than 90 days over the warranty period . I feel your pain and frustration .
No thankfully. It was a GMC truck. A number of years ago.I have no pain or frustration, but thanks.
The current service provider is the best in the area, and has otherwise been flawless to date. Finch.
This one was on me for not paying attention to the odometer. I drive it a lot.
Your C8 transmission failed?
