WooHoo, Finally have a Vette. It's driving from Ontario and headed for the Cariboo for some mountain cruising. Nothing like 5000 kms to get acquainted with a sweet ride.

Leaving Owen Sound on Wednesday. Up to the Sault and across on hwy 2 (US) to Montana and up to Calgary. Then Icefields parkway to Jasper before hitting 100 mile house.

Welcome Carve and congrats on the first vette.
I had a similar experience last summer when I purchased a C4 in BC (Vancouver Island) and drove it home with a good friend and member here Steamer (Rob) who lives on the island and has relatives back here in Ontario.

What a trip! It was my first trip west and I found it one of the best experiences of my life, and a treat to drive a great car back home to Ontario with my friend Rob.
We did about 4k kilometers in 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I hope your trip is as pleasant.

Post some pics of the car please and keep us apprised of your progress. We'd love to hear how things are going.

Cheers and safe travels,
Colin.

a query re licencing.

will you have BC plates on the car ?? If you're travelling on a temp
permit....then you ought to stay in Canada, as I believe the US folk
don't take kindly to temp permits.
I think Steamer and CCO can advise you on this.

Tony,
welland

Yes Tony, that's the very reason that we took the Canadian route back to ON.
Steamer found out that it's a bit dicey crossing the US/Canada border with temp plates/permit.

I myself did some telephoning around and found out that if you have temp plates on a car that you are driving in the States, one has to "notify each and every state's DOT" that you are doing so and to get their permission to cross into their state.

It sounded like a real hassle and when coupled with the possible problems at the border, we didn't chance it. We came back via Canada all the way with no issues whatsoever.
Besides the trip across Canada was most enjoyable.

Food for thought for those contemplating such a trip.

C.

Made it, and what a drive.

Had my fathers plates on for the drive so I thought it only fitting to bring him along! Had an awesome drive. Roof down almost the whole way except for the near tornado in Weyburn Sask.

Average mileage was 39.8 MPG with one tank at 45 MPG in the UPI forests on original spark plugs. The car is a 6 spd. Mannual.
This is with the top down for 80% of the trip.
