Eray sky high insurance rates?!?!

Hi Guys

I have an Eray in production (3400 status currently) I up just got off the phone with my insurance broker. I am a 52 year old male, married, reside in Guelph, Ontario, no tickets, no accidents, multi car discount etc. and I was quoted $3400 for the year, over twice what my current C8 is.
Is anyone else seeing this as well?
Hi I am in Bc. Get all the discounts on a 2024 Z06 HTC and I am real Old and my bill was $3990.00 for the year $300.00 deductible with theft and collision

Wow..... I am in my 30s and my Z06 insurance costs 3700 tax in and I have one speeding ticket on file with 3 insurance claims in the past 5 years (non at fault of course). It is actually less than my CT4 BW's insurance that costs 100k less.

Doesn't make sense. I have a 2022 C8 Z51 HTC: total cost through ICBC $1800.00 for the year collision and liability ($5M), $500 deductible and added Roadstar. I am an old guy as well - LOL.

I’m assuming that you inquired as to the difference in premiums with a higher deductible as that in a lot of cases can reduce your premiums quite significantly. If you haven’t had a claim in the last 10 years you have left a lot on the table. Worth inquiring about but perhaps you have already….

Just picked up my new R-Ray yesterday, traded in my new C8.
Went to transfers insurance I have 7 months left on the C8 insurance and to my surprise it was another $500 extra for 7 months over the C8.
I’m in BC. so it’s ICBC insurance, cost of the C8 for a year $1,800 cost of the E-Ray $2,600
Big difference.

Same here in BC, the C8 was $1,800 full year, collision $300 deductible, comp $300, liability 3M, I’m a really old guy, never in an accident (touch wood)
Just traded in for an E-Ray and transferred with 7 months left on insurance and $500 more for 7 months, ICBC guy told me it’s going to be about $2,600 a year for the E-Ray
Time to start doing storage insurance in the winter, you don’t get that
Much of for low mileage.

Seems like lot? Based on your age?

I thought it was to, I checked they had given me all the discounts, age, low mileage, car technology and they had, but thats ICBC for you expensive insurance.
But don’t forget they send you back $120 if they make too much money.
I got $220.00 back: 2 vehicles.

Try increasing your deductible which in most jurisdictions will lower your rate but then again you’re in BC so who knows. Worth a try. You did say that you have never had a claim. Just a thought but it’s free to inquire. That’s pretty high for a C8 as well compared to other rates I have seen.

Yes I could increase the deductible, but it doesn’t really safe a whole lot.
It was $1,800 for the C8 full insurance for a full year, I thought that wasn’t bad for the C8.
The $2,600 is for my E-Ray same insurance and for a full year, I didn’t think there would be that much of a difference, but there is, so in November when the insurance runs out it will go on cheap storage insurance then in April 2026 back to 8 months of road insurance, this works out a lot cheaper.

ICBC here, $1542.00 on a 23 SR HTC for 6 months, low deductibles & $5M 3rd party.
Must be a BC thing. That also seems quite high. I’m no spring chicken but do have a clean record and full coverage on my SR with no depreciation etc. etc . Is now about $925 having increased $55.00 this year. I believe that I got about a $325 credit for the 6 months of storage, I’d have to check but that’s close. That’s with 3 million 3rd party. But also includes glass coverage. Why so high in seemingly all areas of BC ?

🤣 ICBC almost has more total debt than some Canadian provinces. The 23/24 budget deficit is last stated at approximately (-$9B+). In fiscal 23/24 ICBC had a net loss of (-$1.4B) which was a significant improvement over the previous reporting year. Canada Post & ICBC must have management that came from the same business school because they appear to be running a similar business model. Nuff said!
