Elections Canada - Please Read post Number 1

I would have thought that was part of an election/referendum campaign. It is here in Qc. I believe they have 30 days to remove signage
I know the party election signs get picked up pretty quick but not sure if the redneck separatists will care about their signs. Unless they think they can store them for the next referendum.

Well.... Alberta will remain in Canada... at least for now.... I'm concerned about the 110,000 Free Alberta signs scattered along every roadway in the province. I think the government should give them 30 days to remove all of them. They're just clutter garbage now.
They only have two weeks here if it election related signage. We just had our municipal election yesterday.

The nutters think they are a political movement now , which in a sense I suppose they are . But a political party they are not . They won't let up , that type never do . From what I have read though a good percentage of those that voted with them said they wanted to send a message to Ottawa. Had this actually been the real deal separation vote I suspect the number in favor wouldn't be much more than a dozen % .

Yeah. It looks like Melissa Syer was definitely a crowd favorite. Wasn't even close.
It was either that or rainbow crosswalks all over town.... But she does seem pretty capable and should be well positioned to deal with the supposed Billions in investments coming our way from the Feds related to the military given her background. One can only hope. 5 of my councilor choices, out of 21 candidates for the 8 positions were elected. I have been watching City
Hall antics for almost 45 years now , but maybe this time............

Here we go again...
I always equate the seps to people with blinders on so they don't see what is going on around them. They don't realize that if they were to obtain their goal, Qc would probably be renamed to Louisiana North, excuse me - NORD, within twenty years.
It is a fact that now companies will be reticent to invest in Qc while they are in office because of the uncertainty surrounding them.

Not just their economy will or would be affected. Notice the rise in the Canadian Peso after the separatists lost in Alberta ? This affects the Canadian economy in general for a variety of reasons.

There are now 10 court challenges launched against this project. Looks like it's time to get the cheque book out again .....
What a load of $hit.... Went through this with the Trans Mountain pipeline as well... This freaking First Nations Assembly (headquartered in Ottawa by the way) give the impression that they totally represent every Indigenous tribe across Canada.... 43 BC tribes supported the Trans Mountain project. 12 did not. The ones that didn't are the rich tribes nearer to Vancouver who have a better standard of living than most of us. If you listen to the First Nations assembly you are listening to a bunch of indigenous Ottawa bureaucrats that are heavy into industry and real estate, have lots of money. represent every cause they can to milk money from the government for themselves and don't care about the more remote smaller tribes along the route who look at the financial benefit as a godsend to their poor economic situations. The opportunities created for many First Nations by pipeline proposals are being blocked by a smaller number of more fortunately situated First Nations. The smaller number of First Nations who oppose pipelines are mostly located on the coast and/or near Vancouver, where they have other economic opportunities. The Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish First Nations, who were prominent in the opposition to Trans Mountain, are active in real-estate development and claiming existing developed residential lands. Squamish also has a lucrative contract with an LNG export facility. And Tsleil-Waututh’s opposition has been funded for the last decade by the Tides Foundation, which also subsidizes a broad array of environmentalist organizations opposed to Trans Mountain and other pipelines. Go figure. But it sounds good in the news to convince the general population that the indigenous people are once again getting the shaft.

All true. As it has been for far too long . As well as , in a lot of cases , foreign interference in the form of funding for a number of the so called " environmental " groups who oppose any and all resource development as you point out ... they are busy beavers. And it's not just them doing this .

Tides Foundation is an American nonprofit, headquartered in San Francisco, California. It is a U.S. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity, with its principal place of business at 1012 Torney Avenue, San Francisco, USA .
Tides Foundation supports a very broad network of mostly progressive, community-based nonprofits and advocacy organizations. In 2025 it reported more than 3,300 grantees; in 2022 it reported nearly $750 million going to about 4,000 grantees in 95 countries.
Main areas of support
Its grantmaking focuses on democracy and voting rights, reproductive freedom, racial and gender equity, immigrant justice, climate and environmental justice, LGBTQ+ and trans justice, economic justice, and crisis relief.

Good thing that there are only 650 or so , "First Nations" to deal with not to mention the Grim Greta types , lol . Thankfully the Liberals have high approval ratings and a majority. As well as the power to deem projects in the National interest and seemingly the will to do so . We shall see but I'm not really holding my breath.

Should somehow put all these land claims to rest and once that is done let them know they are now full Canadian citizens and pay taxes just like everyone else with no more or less rights as anyone else.
I said many years ago that they should have gotten them all together and offered them a massive one time settlement. One they couldn't refuse. Way more than anyone would think wasn't extremely excessive. Would look like it had been a screaming deal today . It will never happen now . They are all lawyered up , lol.

Like that will ever happen. We accepted the guilt of our 17th century forefathers, and every real or perceived white man atrocity since then, and will be paying the price of redemption (and more) until the end of time. It's the perfect platform as no one would ever say 'no more'. Sympathetic Lobby groups all over are skimming off their percentage of every settlement by the truckload before it ever reaches the people it is intended to help.
