Elections Canada - Please Read post Number 1

Well. So much for national interest. This was from 4 days ago. Given what's happening with Trump and the help they expect from the rest of Canada it's harder to accept this attitude now than it was in 2014. I would sincerely hope the people of Quebec will think differently on April 28.

There is no more of a chance that I would support Energy East than there is a chance that I would sign the Canadian Constitution,” Blanchet said.
“There are no significant economic benefits for Quebec in this project, but there is a quantifiable and measurable ecological impact,” Blanchet said, standing in front of Neuville city hall.
There is no payoff for us to put billions of dollars into the oil of the west that harms the environment, instead of keeping our money and investing it in an economic model that is compatible with the interests of Quebec ........

“there is a quantifiable and measurable ecological impact,” Blanchet said “ . Of course there is no ecological impact from all of the coal and oil fired power generation by any of the countries that we could be selling our much cleaner natural gas to. And there is no argument to be made for replacing the foreign oil that they import every year….
Quebec imports a significant portion of Canada’s foreign oil, but specific annual figures for Quebec alone are not readily available. However, Quebec has historically been the largest importer of foreign oil among Canadian provinces, with over $228 billion in imports since 1988 .Quebec’s imports are primarily from countries like Kazakhstan, Angola, and Algeria.

Amazing how they already have pipelines, railroad cars and tankers in the St. Lawrence moving oil internally but won't agree to to a pipeline to feed the Maritimes and to allow shipping from St. John to overseas markets. Why should we be surprised.

Politics! I wish politicians would put people first instead of themselves. Pipe dream! (pardon the pun)

Since the polls have done a 180 since Carney the savior is now more popular than Jesus, and the orange turd from the south has thrown his support with the Liberals, I am horrified to think that we may be destined for another 4 years of a Trudeau with different hair.

Since the polls have done a 180 since Carney the savior is now more popular than Jesus, and the orange turd from the south has thrown his support with the Liberals, I am horrified to think that we may be destined for another 4 years of a Trudeau with different hair. Since no one in the Liberal party has accepted any responsibility for the massive economic woes they have brought upon the country, out of curiosity I looked up Carney's net worth.... $69 million... oops. That was a typo... $69 BILLION... No wonder he's getting along with Trump so well. So I'm really hoping that if the Liberals succeed in forming the next government, and if so, with the overdue self destruction of the NDP party, it will likely be a majority government, and if they sink us any deeper, that Carney will step up and bail is out with his own money.... lol... Yeah right.
I don't disagree with you, but you must remember that Justin just did exactly what his father did. Operate in a deficit for good or bad, I'm not voicing an opinion on that, just pointing it out. Not all Liberals believe in operating in a deficit. Carney is not a politician, or wasn't. He's a finance guy. He should operate much differently for good or bad. At least he's not a narcissist, like your boy PP! ;)

I don't actually consider PP 'my boy ' but I am definitely ready for a change from watching 10 years of Liberal scandals, screw-ups, neglect and waste. So what are my choices? Very few. It really matters little how I feel and even less how I vote as Alberta only has 34 seats and I'm pretty sure the majority of those will be Conservative again no matter what I think or do. BC AB, Sask. and MB total only 104 seats and MB and BC usually split almost dead even between the 3 parties. I'm thinking that Ont. may see a PC gain which is likely what contributed to the big PC numbers 4 months ago but I'm also thinking Quebec, who usually splits between the Libs and the Bloc are going to see more of a swing towards the Libs. Blanchet is signing his own death warrant by bucking the Quebec people's popular support of the Energy East pipeline and that may be a good part of the reason the Libs have surged in the polls of late. Your 121 and Quebec's 78 seats pretty much controls the results no matter what the rest of the Country thinks anyway. As far as narcissism goes, I think that can be said for both PP and AC. Carney is just smooth and polished enough to hide his from us....for now.

No matter. I am childless and of an age and position, that work, tariffs, and economy make little difference to me anymore but I do feel for the later Gen X and the Gen Z and beyond age groups. They are the ones who's futures depend on where our Country is headed in the next number of years.

I was just teasing you. However you can replace "Liberal" with "political" as far as I'm concerned. The system we use just begs for scandal, mistakes, neglect and waste. How we can't see that politicians are bought is beyond me.

Agreed. The system is flawed but the lack of repercussions or any consequences for their actions is the real culprit. If Trudeau had been charged and removed from government like he should have been for the SNC scandal, if not for the others as well, politicians just might take that as a lesson and not follow down the same path of corruption. Of course we can see that politicians are bought but why not. Unfortunately they are above the law and no one in a position to stop it seems to want to change that.

Hey members.... On the off chance (lol) of kicking a hornet's nest, I'm opening another political thread for various levels of government darts and kudos. I'm going to paste our illustrious CCF leader's parameters and warnings below from previous attempts at keeping this precariously natured thread to a dull roar. You are welcome to voice your opinions and discussions but be forewarned:

We will not condone uncivil verbal fist fighting between members or vicious rants over and above tolerable levels (which will be judged by us Mods), and racism will also earn you a ride back to reading about C8 recalls and broken transmissions. ;)

You are welcome to voice your political thoughts, whether kudos or barbs, and verifiable government information for our interest and discussion.
If you are not happy with me opening this thread, stay out of it, as I will ignore complaints about the presence of a political opinion thread in this, an OFF TOPIC section of the forum. Here's Nik's previous contribution.

"We always regret breaking our own rules but because Canada we'll let one moderated thread in to discuss POLITICS and specifically the upcoming election.

Things that will get you a reply ban on this thread:
1. Personal attacks and name calling.
2. Cute memes that make you scratch your head and say hang on that's a bit racist
3. Conspiracy theories and fabbed news, send those to my interdimensional PO Box please
4. Any sort of severe swearing, just keep it inside for your close relatives.
5. Trolling as usual would be great on another forum but not here

Disagreements and discourse is always welcome but as always keep it civil."

And with that, let's see how this goes.

Rruuff!
All I am going to say about this is, no more of the abusive, incompetent, corrupt liberals.

So you think when the liberals win they won't be abusive, incompetent or corrupt? ;)

If they win , yes it will continue the Carney= trudeau way. Clones!:Banghead::Ack2:
They are in no way alike! He wasn't even a politician before now. The Liberals have their beliefs, of course. As do the NDP and the Conservatives, but to call them clones is no where near accurate. Trudeau was a teacher and Carney was a financial advisor.

Don’t forget gross incompetence… ;)

Snowboard instructor wasn’t he ? And actually neither was a politician before but at least Sock Boy was somehow elected by a whopping 31% of the voters……;)

Carbon taxes came from Carney. He pretends he is good with the economy but he supplied trudeau with lots of advice. Clones means incompetent, abusive, corrupt. All the liberals did was get rid of the snakes head but the rest is still there. The new head is no better. I thought I said I would not make any more comments. :Arghh: But you keep bringing me back in!:p

Whoever gets elected will have a hell of a time trying to turn things around.
At the same time, there is a pre-installed excuse for lack of performance by any individual/party in the future.
One can always blame how Justin has left things in a mess, and what Donald is doing today to that which remains.
