Do not use fuel stabilizer!

I have a C8, and my dealership (one of the largest sellers of C8's), says to NOT use any fuel stabilizer, when storing vehicle for winter.

This is contrary to probably what many on this forum are doing, but I am curious to know if anyone out there in C8 world is also NOT adding fuel stabilizer to the fuel.

They are idiots! Tell us who at W/N told you that? I never used it when I stored my car, but it absolutely will NOT hurt a car!

Now, I am kind of nervous to provide the person's name..... but this Service advisor says don't do it. They did not say it will hurt the car, just not to do it, and make sure to store with fresh, high grade fuel. That's it with respect to fuel.

I’m calling bullsh*t on the Service Advisor.
Likely their opinion and not based on facts.
C8’s have an ITC engine, the use of fuel stabilizers has been proven for decades.
With that said, with today’s fuels, stabilizer is not mandatory for a four month winter-snooze.

A Petro-Canada engineer told me that if your put winter grade gas in you don’t need fuel stabilizer unless storing more than 6 months. I’ve never used it and never had a problem.

I don't doubt that for a second, but it certainly won't hurt.

I don’t use stabilizer for winter storage for my stored car, never had an issue.
Although, for small engines that sit, I do use it.
I.E. lawnmower, snowblower, backup generator

Will just say if you are storing anything with ethanol added fuel, you absolutely need stabilizer. It's not the cure-all / end-all to prevent the ethanol from absorbing moisture, separating, and then laying on the bottom of the tank but it helps. Please disregard if you're running ethanol free recreation gas.

Service guy is correct on this.

Fuel stabilizer = NOT required. You are not using grandpa’s gas these days.

Methanol = required IF you have water in your gas and it is freezing, so that it stays as a liquid and can be burned.

Pretty simple.

Fuel stabilizer also takes care of any water that you may have in your tank if you may have gotten a bad fill up .
