It would even be more interesting if his dads insurance had the old "No unmarried driver under the age of 25" clause." Then again an accident at 186KPH, might disqualify your insurance regardless.
Some woke justice or magistrate will probably go easy on the perp, not wanting to be seen as applying "cruel and unusual", with additional specifics almost surely being taken into consideration.
Or the case will be dismissed, if the Dad can afford a good lawyer.

I think parenting in general is extinct. By the time the kid hits school, they have been shuffled around so much they don't recognize their birth parents...
Tough love is how we often became "un-stupid" back in the day.
Remember "wait til your father gets home", and those days when corporal punishment was still legal?
