Day 7 almost over and we are both alive and without symptoms. Here's hoping it remains that way. I see the feds have finally mandated self isolation for returning travelers and people with Covid for all of Canada. Too little too late. Kudos for Alberta for having this in place two weeks ago. The US is rapidly becoming the new epicenter with approx. 11,000 new cases per day. At this rate they will overtake Italy tomorrow and China the next day for total known cases.
But still we have hordes of people not taking this serious. I'm totally dumbfounded by the stories I'm hearing, not limited to the idiot in Missouri charged for licking items in a Walmart store. With any luck his tongue will rot off in jail but I'm still doubtful if he would be any less of an idiot.
My niece in Spruce Grove was telling her parents today that their neighbours are hosting house parties for their friends... Her husband is 70 years old with congerstive heart failure disease. Again I say.... Can't fix stupid....
But this practice is not limited to them. This is happening all over Canada and still, regulations and penalties are barely, and very slowly coming into place to curtail this. If these people contract the virus and die, some will say they deserved it but it's not their death that concerns me nearly as much as every innocent person out there who is self isolating, social distancing and taking all the recommended precautions, and may still be subject to infection only because others either think they are immortal, the rules don't apply to them or they just aren't smart enough to care.
A totalitarian state for the entire country will not be far off if everyone, including our federal government doesn't soon smarten up.
Well... that's my day 7 rant and after day 14 of our quarantine has ended, neither of us has any intention of having any contact with others until this thing is over, social distancing or not. I'm thinking we may be holed up here on the farm for quite some time.
Best wishes to stay healthy and stay smart to everyone.
