Event Corvette Meet & Greet @ Ponoka

Despite the heavy smoke from the NWT and BC turning central AB air into a thick smoky haze, we still had about 10 brave Vette owners and some spouses that braved the extremely poor air quality and came to Ponoka yesterday. Was great to see some faces from past meets and some new faces and CCF forum members as well. Gorgeous cars all around from a metallic pearl C3 to a bevy of C8's were admired and discussed. Even the smoke didn't dampen the mood as we talked about our cars and everything else under the sun, that we unfortunately couldn't see through the smoke. Our caterers did a great job as usual with tasty grilled burgers and dogs and scrumptious homemade cookies. Then off on a nice cruise to a remote boat docking site for more chat and pictures.
Our thanks to all that came out to join us despite the air quality warnings. Here's a few pictures. My apologies for missing some Vettes as they got away before my brain remembered to take more pictures.

Is that a John Deere factory back there? That's a lot of tractors.

Lol... Thats only a dealership...and a smaller one at that... It always astounds me the equipment dealers carry out here... And huge equipment at that... I had never seen tractors and combines like we have out here. My neighbour was asked to demo the newest JD Combine a couple years back when it was still in experimental stage. No one was suppose to know about it but there were people parked along my road from all over the province watching this giant work. Combines average about 3 kph when threshing grain in the field. We chatted about it later and he told me he averaged 5kph without plugging. Makes a big difference when you can combine at nearly twice the speed when you're working 15,,000 acres of crop each season and can put 100,000 bushels a day in the bins. But.... at a price. That combine, decked out the way it was, would retail at 1.2 million... For something that works only a month or more esch season. They are more of a garage queen than any of our Corvettes.
