There are a couple of ways of making a profile post, easiest to reach is the side bar as seen in the pic:
You can also make profile posts via your profile page (hover over your username in top right -> Your Profile Page -> Profile post).
And you can make a profile post on someone else's profile page. Not to mention the ability to like or comment on posts.
Think of this as Facebook status update with less 'ex wife/husband' visibility.
