Hi all. In May, '22, I ordered and installed a Hwy 407 transponder on the passenger side of center, under clear glass. It doesn't beep when I exit the highway(s). I've been billed for camera charges and emailed 407. They credited me several camera fees, but it's still happening. They say it may be because some cars have heated glass, radio antennas, etc in the glass. I think the transponder is faulty. Anyone else had any problems with one in a C8? Hank

It may be how you drive it. Loan it to me for a week or so and let me try your transponder out!

Maybe ask them to exchange this one and try again, I guess electrical interference is possible having said that I have had issues with the transponder not working as well. They just changed it.

Good luck get it sorted or they will own your house and car!

I used to put mine behind the mirror, but I can tell you I HAVE had defective ones. Get it replaced. End of story! It's theirs! You just rent it.
The only thing I hate about it is you can't get to their store front easily from the 407 for F-sakes! They should put in a F'n off ramp for themselves.

Never an issue with mine. I don’t even have it mounted. Pull it out of the glove box and keep it on the passenger seat. Never an issue. The bill always seems to find its way to my mailbox as well. 😀

No issues on 407. You have a defective transponder.

I'd jump in here but I had to look up transponder just to familiarize myself with what you were talking about....
Yeah, it's strictly an Ontario thing. Ontario taxpayers funded a new express highway, from the west side of Hamilton, to way east of Toronto, (now 108 km), to alleviate congestion on our main east-west highway, 401. Then they stupidly sold it to a construction company in Quebec, who sold the major share to a Spanish consortium. It started out very reasonable, at 4½ c per km. Now it's 56 c per km at peak times. For driving the 108 km 1 way on a weekday, 3:30 pm - 6 pm, it's $76, plus $1 trip fee, plus $5 transponder fee, (or $4.50 camera charge with no transponder) plus HST.
Well, actually, they didn't sell it, they "leased" it ... for 99 years. It opened in June, 1997, so we might get a price break in 2096. WooHoo.

There you did it... You made my blood pressure go up again! This is why politicians and diapers should both be changed regularly... :)

Have had the same issue several times, not consistent. It has to do with the antenna being in the glass. Had the same issue with my last C7 and I have it all the time with my Porsche Macan which has heated glass. Just call them and ask them to put a note on your account or whatever they do for cars that don't read the transponder consistently. They told me that Corvettes can be problematic so they just registered it on their system. Sometimes it beeps and sometimes it doesn't but I now never get a camera bill for either car.

Ok, so C8's do have an issue with transponders. Good to know, thanks.

If it’s an LT3 it has a coated windshield and an HUD
Where there are sensors, the coating is deleted
Move it to a different location
Both 2LT and 3LT have HUD. Interesting that it would block some forms of radiation. Plausible.
