Hey guys, before I take the plunge, a quick question. I have one of my key fobs that keeps killing batteries. Generally I can only get about a week out of a battery. Before I go in and get a new fob from the dealer are there any suggestions. I have already cleaned everything inside with contact cleaner and have had no success. I am all ears, or should I say eyes; to read the screen of course.

Hey B, thanks for the reply. I have been upalong for the last few days dropping daughter number 2 off to university and visiting daughter number 1 for a day. That is pretty much what I thought but didn't realize they were that expensive although it is not surprising.

Fred, sorry for your troubles but I am concerned perhaps that some unknown source is tracking your every movement through the key fob. Worrisome indeed.

Crazy expensive. Do they self program or do you have to set up the fob yourself?

I wonder if it is the other half tracking me?? LOL. There is a method to program the FOBs but obviously I have not had to do it... yet

Had problem with FOB would start car but couldn't access Options. Got new Fob but when dealer tried to reprogram it wiped out the spare Fob as well. Turned out to be the transmitter. 600 dollars later for new FOBs and transmitter. Knowing what I know now would have just used 2nd Fob. Just a caution when you start playing with these things.Could very well be the transmitter. If spare Fob works I might well leave things alone and use it if you have one and it works.

Thanks Skip for the heads up. Yes, the 2nd FOB works best kind. Owner of the dealership here is a corvette guy big time. Enough so that they have two specialists on staff and all of the gizmos and gadgets needed to work on all of the model years. He also owns a pristine C1. So far I haven't heard a bad thing about servicing of corvettes there.

I guess it's a matter of if you want to take a chance on spending big bucks now or deferring it to the future Though in your case it might be a simple fix.I don't know .Can only relate to what happened to me.
