According to some more details I found this car was picked up at the St. Louis plant by California racer Dave McDonald and his wife Sherry and driven back home. This was McDonald's last Corvette race car before moving on to the Cobra Team. McDonald lost his life in a horrendous accident driving the Allstate Special for Mickey Thompson in 1964 at Indianapolis. Eddie Sachs was killed in the accident as well.
