This is about the worst thing that could happen to a C5. It took almost 8 years for a bunch of dedicated Corvette designers and engineers to keep the Corvette name alive and to create such a remarkable car as the C5. It must have made these guys weep to see this destruction to their beauty so please guys keep the faith - Cardy Davis, John Cafaro, Russ McLean, Joe Spielman, Dave Hill and Tadge Juechter. Reference "All Corvettes are Red" book by James Schefter.
